Where
are German singles heading?
Travel
appetite is high: more than half of surveyed singles (50.5%) plan to spend
their summer holiday in Europe. Around 29.9% will stay within Germany, while
10.9% are choosing destinations in Asia. Whether city breaks, coastal towns, or
beach escapes – diversity shapes their travel plans.
Flights
dominate holiday travel
Nearly
seven in ten singles (69.2%) will travel by air. Medium-haul flights are most
popular (49.9%), especially to Spain and Italy. About one-fifth will opt for
long-haul journeys, while only a third intend to use train, car, or bus.
Who
do singles travel with?
Friends
are the top choice for 28.2% of respondents, particularly in the 25–34 age
group (34.7%). Younger singles often travel with their parents (18–24 years:
34.6%). Among 35–44-year-olds, almost one in five singles takes their children
along on holiday.
Solo
travel on the rise
Some
30.8% of singles plan to spend summer 2025 deliberately traveling alone. Solo
trips are especially popular among men: 37.3% intend to holiday on their own,
compared with 27.8% who prefer traveling with friends. Almost two-thirds of
singles have already experienced a solo trip at least once.
Why
singles travel alone
Independence,
freedom, and new experiences are the main motivations. Solo holidays allow
spontaneous decisions, encounters with new cultures, and memorable impressions.
Far from being seen as a compromise, traveling alone is viewed as enriching.
“Singles
show that travel today is more than traditional package holidays – it is about
self-realization, shared experiences, or consciously embracing solitude,” said
a TUI spokesperson.
