A warning strike at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is set to have the biggest impact on travel in Germany this week. On Wednesday, passengers should expect widespread flight cancellations and delays. Current estimates suggest that up to 57,000 travellers could be affected.

BER strike at the centre of disruptions

The strike at Germany’s capital airport affects a major transport hub and is likely to significantly disrupt flight operations throughout the day. Departures and connecting flights are particularly at risk, as delays may cascade across the system. Many passengers may face last-minute rebookings or the cancellation of their journeys.

Public transport strikes complicate access

At the same time, strikes in public transport are taking place in several German regions, including North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria, Hamburg, Brandenburg and Saarland. Buses, underground trains and trams are running on limited schedules or not at all.
