Miles & More, the loyalty programme of the
Lufthansa Group, has introduced new incentives for sustainable travel. For the
first time, members earn miles and Points when purchasing CO₂-offsetting
packages. The new service complements existing “Green Fares” and allows
travellers to achieve their desired status or rewards more quickly while
supporting climate protection.
Incentives for sustainable choices
Offsetting packages cover the full flight-related CO₂
emissions through a combination of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and
contributions to the Lufthansa Group’s certified climate project portfolio.
Depending on the SAF share booked, members can earn up to 80% more Points and
Qualifying Points and up to 20% more HON Circle Points, in addition to the
regular flight credit. Up to six award miles per euro spent are also available.

Flexible booking before and after flights
Packages can be booked during flight booking, in the
personal booking area before departure, or even after the flight – on the
websites of Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, Lufthansa, SWISS,
via the Miles & More app, or on miles-and-more.com. Retroactive credit will
also be granted for all offsetting packages purchased since January 2025.
SAF and climate project portfolio
SAF is blended with fossil kerosene before reaching
airports and reduces lifecycle CO₂ emissions by at least 80% compared to
conventional jet fuel. The Lufthansa Group ensures the purchased SAF amount is
introduced into flight operations within six months.
For compensation, the Group draws on a diversified
climate project portfolio, currently comprising 18 projects certified to the
highest international standards (e.g. Gold Standard). In addition to
nature-based projects, it also supports innovative technology-based solutions
such as CO₂ capture and storage in concrete and biochar projects, helping to
advance long-term CO₂ removal methods.
