The aircraft features a deep blue fuselage with
Lufthansa’s crane emblem in white, its wings blending into those of the
aircraft to symbolize continuity between tradition and the future. The livery
also integrates a “100” on the left side, the years “1926 / 2026” on the right,
and a centennial logo on the underside.
Originally created in 1918 by designer Otto Firle, the
crane has long stood as Lufthansa’s defining symbol worldwide.
Delivery and service
The aircraft (registration D-ABPU) received its
paintwork in Charleston, USA, and will be delivered to Frankfurt in November
with the airline’s new Allegris interior. Regular service is set to begin in
December, when the jet will act as a “flying ambassador” for the anniversary
year.
CEO statement
“Our Lufthansa crane stands for safety, pioneering
spirit, premium quality, but also for freedom and reliability. This has been
the case for the past 100 years and will continue to be so in the future,” said
Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa Airlines. “The special livery honors our identity
and stands for a proud team of Lufthansa employees who give everything every
day for our guests’ safety and well-being.”
