Eurowings is launching a competition that will see
four Airbus A320 aircraft carry the first names of people nominated by the
public. Between 21 September and 11 October 2026, participants can submit the
story of someone whose kindness, support or commitment has made a difference to
others.
The “Name a Plane” campaign is deliberately focused on
people beyond the public spotlight. Nominees might come from families, circles
of friends, clubs, voluntary organisations or everyday life. Rather than
exceptional achievements or prominent personalities, Eurowings is looking for
personal stories of people who regularly help others.
Personal stories will determine the winners
Participants are asked to nominate a person and
explain why they deserve to have their name displayed on an aircraft. After
submissions close, Eurowings will review the stories before a jury selects four
people.
The winners and their stories will be presented in
December 2026. Their first names will then be displayed prominently on
Eurowings Airbus A320 aircraft.
“Often, it is the small, everyday gestures that make
the greatest difference,” says Eurowings CEO Max Kownatzki. “Putting their name
on one of our aircraft is our way of giving that contribution the recognition
it deserves.”
From a personal thank-you to a flying tribute
Eurowings is linking the campaign to the role air
travel plays in connecting families and friends across Europe.
“Every Eurowings aircraft connects people and brings
them closer to those who matter most,” Kownatzki says. “With ‘Name a Plane’, we
are celebrating the people who make life easier for others.”
Once applied to the aircraft, the four selected names
will travel across the Eurowings network, turning an individual nomination into
a visible tribute carried on regular flights throughout Europe.
