Turkish Airlines orders up to 225 Boeing aircraft

Turkish Airlines announced the purchase of 225 Boeing aircraft, divided as follows:

·         Boeing 787-9 and 787-10 Dreamliner: 50 firm and 25 optional orders, with deliveries between 2029 and 2034.

·         Boeing 737-8 and 737-10 MAX: 100 firm and 50 optional orders, pending the conclusion of engine supply negotiations with CFM International.

Talks are also underway with Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace for engines, spare parts, and long-term maintenance services.

Strategic goals

The airline said the acquisitions support its plan to transition the entire fleet to new-generation aircraft by 2035, targeting greater operational efficiency and an average annual growth rate of about 6%.

Diplomatic confirmation

The deal was confirmed by U.S. Ambassador to Türkiye Tom Barrack during President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to the White House, underlining the significance of the order in bilateral trade relations.

Broader context

Just last year, Turkish Airlines added four Boeing 777 freighters to its cargo fleet. Rival carrier Pegasus also placed an order for 200 Boeing aircraft in 2024, reflecting strong demand for fleet renewal across Türkiye’s aviation sector.
