USA: Delta opens flight attendant recruitment for 2027

The airline is accepting applications from English-speaking and bilingual candidates for upcoming training classes

Delta Air Lines has opened applications for flight attendants who will join the airline through its 2027 hiring classes. Positions are available for English-speaking candidates as well as bilingual applicants for the airline’s Language of Destination roles.

The recruitment drive comes as Delta continues to expand and strengthen its cabin crew. The airline is looking for employees prepared to work across a global network of more than 300 destinations, with schedules that can include domestic and international flights, overnight duties, weekends and holidays.

Safety and customer service at the heart of the role

Delta describes passenger safety and comfort as the primary responsibility of its flight attendants. At the same time, cabin crew are expected to play a central role in the customer experience throughout the journey.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old when submitting their application and hold a high school diploma, GED or equivalent qualification. They must be legally authorised to work in the United States and be able to speak, read and write English fluently.

Candidates must also be prepared for the working patterns associated with an international airline operation, including irregular hours as well as overnight, weekend and holiday duties.

Bilingual candidates also being recruited

Alongside its regular flight attendant positions, Delta is recruiting bilingual candidates for Language of Destination roles. These flight attendants use their additional language skills on services to specific international markets.

The new recruitment round is intended for Delta’s upcoming 2027 classes, in which successful applicants will prepare for their future duties aboard the airline’s aircraft.

Due to the expected high volume of applications, Delta warns candidates that response times may be slower than usual and that delays could occur in the application portal.

Unsuccessful candidates can apply again after six months

Delta has also clarified its rules for candidates who are unsuccessful during the selection process. Since June 2026, they may submit another application six months after receiving their disqualification email, provided that a new job requisition number has been published.

The airline also provides reasonable accommodations during the application and selection process for qualified candidates, including where requirements connected with a conditional job offer are concerned. Supporting medical or religious documentation may be required where applicable.
