Thailand’s culinary scene ascends with the launch of The MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has released The MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026, marking a milestone year for the country’s dining landscape. The new edition features 468 restaurants nationwide and highlights significant star promotions, growing culinary talent, and broader recognition for sustainable practices. Together, these developments reinforce Thailand’s status as one of Asia’s most dynamic food destinations.

TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool said the 2026 edition reflects “the strength and diversity of Thailand’s culinary landscape,” noting that each promotion and new listing underscores the kingdom’s commitment to creativity, quality, and responsible gastronomy. As Thailand advances its “Value over Volume” direction, she added, culinary excellence will continue to play a central role in attracting high-value international travellers.

A landmark year for MICHELIN Stars in Thailand

The 2026 Guide brings major new distinctions. Sühring has been elevated to Three MICHELIN Stars, becoming the second Thai restaurant to receive the Guide’s highest honour. The Two-Star category expands with promotions for Anne-Sophie Pic at Le Normandie and INDDEE.

Seven restaurants join the One MICHELIN Star list, including newcomers Bo.lan, Cannubi by Umberto Bombana, and etcha, as well as four venues promoted from the MICHELIN Selected category: Gaggan, Juksunchae, Nusara, and Sushi Saito.

GOAT receives a MICHELIN Green Star, increasing Thailand’s total to five sustainability-recognised restaurants.

Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of The MICHELIN Guide, highlighted Thailand’s “remarkable energy and creativity,” noting that the 2026 selection presents an even wider range of cuisines and confirms Thailand’s growing presence on the global gastronomic map.

New Mentor Chef Award and other special recognitions

This year introduces a new category for Thailand: the MICHELIN Guide Mentor Chef Award, honouring chefs who cultivate future culinary talent. The inaugural award goes to David Thompson, Owner-Chef of Aksorn (One Star) and Chop Chop Cook Shop (MICHELIN Selected).

Additional Special Awards include:

·         MICHELIN Guide Young Chef Award, presented by Blancpain: Suwijak Kunghae, Owner-Chef of Royd

·         MICHELIN Guide Opening of the Year Award, presented by UOB: Wilfrid Hocquet, Owner-Chef of Margo

·         MICHELIN Guide Service Award, presented by TAT: Arsen Brahaj, Restaurant Manager at Aulis (One Star, Phang-Nga)

An expanding culinary landscape

In total, the 2026 edition comprises:

2 Three-Star, 8 Two-Star, 33 One-Star, 5 Green Star, 137 Bib Gourmand, and 288 MICHELIN Selected restaurants.

Together, these numbers reflect the depth and momentum of Thailand’s gastronomic evolution.

Ms. Thapanee emphasized that gastronomy remains a pillar of Thailand’s tourism identity. The achievements celebrated in the 2026 Guide, she noted, signal that Thailand is not only a welcoming destination but also a leading global culinary powerhouse.
