Spain is expecting a robust month for international
air travel in October. According to the latest Air Capabilities Report from
Turespaña, airlines have scheduled around 12 million seats to Spanish
destinations. This represents a 5.2% increase compared with October 2024, when
11.4 million seats were offered.
Source markets: mixed performance in Europe
Seat availability from the United Kingdom and Italy
shows solid growth, both up by 5.6% year-on-year. France is also on a positive
trajectory with a 2.5% increase. Germany, however, registers a decline of 1.7%.
The Nordic countries continue to lose momentum:
Denmark is down 3.5%, Sweden 4.6%, Norway 9.3%, and Finland 6.9%. In contrast,
Turkey and Ireland stand out with projections of more than 15% growth each.
Strong gains from the US and Ibero-America
The United States is also showing notable strength,
with an 11.3% increase in scheduled seats for October. Among Ibero-American
countries, Colombia and Mexico remain the largest contributors. Colombia
records an impressive 13.9% rise, while Mexico shows a slight contraction of
1.0%.
Outlook
The figures confirm a solid international air supply
for Spain as the autumn season advances, with particularly strong dynamics from
the British, Italian, US, and Colombian markets. According to Turespaña, this
underlines the country’s resilience as a leading tourism destination in Europe.
