The Saudi Travel Fair 2025, held from 12 to 16
November at IOI City Mall Putrajaya, welcomed around 15,000 visitors,
reflecting strong demand in Malaysia for the Kingdom’s growing portfolio of
cultural, spiritual and leisure travel experiences.
From the moment attendees entered the fair, cultural
showcases set the tone. Visitors sampled qahwa, Saudi Arabia’s spiced coffee,
served with dates at the Taste of Arabia corner, and tried on traditional
clothing at dedicated styling stations.
Cultural encounters at every corner
Interactive elements such as the Sadu Art Wall,
inspired by the geometric motifs of traditional Saudi weaving, offered hands-on
insights into local craftsmanship. A calligraphy station personalised Arabic
names in elegant khat script, while live performances of Ardha, the Saudi
national dance, and Samri, a Bedouin music and dance tradition accompanied by
the daf drum, brought an authentic sense of place to the event.
These experiences allowed visitors to connect with
Saudi culture even before exploring travel packages.
Strong demand for Umrah+ extensions
Umrah+ packages remained a focal point of enquiries.
Popular add-ons included trips to AlUla, Aseer, Taif, Jeddah and Al Baha,
supported by benefits such as complimentary Haramain High-Speed Railway
tickets, exclusive rebates, curated excursions and limited-edition gifts.
Interest continued to expand beyond the familiar
“Golden Triangle” of Riyadh, AlUla and Jeddah. Destinations such as Abha
(Aseer) and Al Baha attracted attention for their cooler temperatures, mountain
scenery and rich heritage.
‘Winter is Alive’: expanding appeal for leisure travel
Families and young travellers showed strong curiosity
for Saudi Arabia’s broadened Winter is Alive programme. Visitors discovered new
leisure-focused itineraries across Riyadh, the historic district of Diriyah
(JAX District), Hail, Qassim, and the Red Sea—a rapidly rising destination
known for its clear waters, marine biodiversity, pristine islands and luxury
eco-resorts.
The Red Sea, in particular, inspired travellers
seeking a mix of adventure, tranquillity and sustainable tourism, making it an
appealing option for post-Umrah holidays.
