Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin marks Rosewood’s
debut winter resort and the brand’s second property in mainland France.
Situated in the exclusive Jardin Alpin enclave of Courchevel 1850, the hotel
offers direct ski-in, ski-out access to Les Trois Vallées, the world’s largest
connected ski area. The resort introduces a design-led interpretation of alpine
luxury shaped by contemporary aesthetics, art, and regional craftsmanship.
Designed by French interior designer Tristan Auer as
an eclectic chalet, the property features 51 rooms, suites, and penthouses,
complemented by three signature houses. The concept emphasizes intimacy,
material authenticity, and a constant visual dialogue with the surrounding
mountain landscape.
A legendary address reinterpreted
Located within Courchevel’s storied Jardin Alpin
neighborhood, the resort draws inspiration from the destination’s golden era of
alpine travel. The opening of the world’s first mountain airport in 1961
transformed Courchevel into an international winter stage defined by elegance
and exclusivity. That historical backdrop informs the property’s architectural
and interior identity.
The façade combines Vals Quartzite sourced from the
Swiss Alps with wood and copper accents. A hand-carved entrance door crafted
from locally sourced timber sets the tone for the artisanal detailing found
throughout the hotel.
“With Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin, we set out
to create a destination that celebrates the joy of alpine life while delivering
the curated experiences Rosewood guests expect — a place to gather, explore,
and create lasting memories in one of the world’s most beautiful settings,”
says François Arrighi, Managing Director of Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin
Alpin.
Rooms and suites as alpine residences
All accommodations are conceived as refined alpine
living spaces designed to integrate seamlessly with the slopes. Each room and
suite features a private seated terrace, extending the interior environment
outward toward panoramic mountain views.
Select signature suites incorporate illuminated bars
crafted from brushed Himalayan salt blocks. Angled to echo surrounding mountain
silhouettes, these elements introduce a softened warmth and diffuse glow within
the interiors.
The two two-bedroom penthouses accommodate up to four
guests and function as private retreats after a day on the slopes.
Hand-sculpted concrete headboards evoke natural stone formations. Saulire House
features a suspended art installation by Christian Pellizzari composed of
hand-blown Murano crystal and mirrored copper-toned glass. Courchevel House
reinterprets the traditional alpine fireplace using bush-hammered bluestone and
patinated brass.
The Jardin Alpin Apartment, the property’s largest
signature residence, offers four bedrooms for up to eight guests. Designed by
Karl Fournier and Olivier Marty of Studio KO, the penthouse includes expansive
terraces overlooking Sommet de la Saulire, a private cinema, and a professional
kitchen.
“We approached the project as though we were creating
a private mansion chalet rather than a traditional hotel. The idea was to
capture the glamour of the mountains while transporting guests into another
world — a place where every space invites them to experience and discover
something beyond the expected,” explains Tristan Auer, Founder of Tristan Auer
Studio.
Art and craftsmanship as central design elements
Artworks are positioned as integral components of the
guest experience. In the lobby, Olafur Eliasson’s installation Two harmonious
yet different crystals sharing views and reflection generates shifting
reflections across mirrored surfaces.
Behind the concierge desk, a bespoke piece by Amandine
Haeghen combines chamotte stoneware and glass. A lightly sandblasted Breccia
marble staircase framed by copper elements functions as a sculptural focal
point. Additional highlights include textile works by Morgane Baroghel-Crucq
and Elisa Strozyk.
The Cigar Lounge features a copper installation
crafted by Studio MTX, designed to evoke an inverted pinecone.
Alpine cuisine at SALTO
SALTO serves as the resort’s central dining venue, led
by Chef Gioia Baek. Inspired by the culinary traditions of the Italian Alps,
the restaurant evolves throughout the day from a relaxed gathering space into
an evening dining destination.
Chef Baek’s menu reflects her background in Italian
gastronomy, developed through mentorship at Da Vittorio in Bergamo. The
culinary offering ranges from Tuscan seafood Cacciucco to puff-pastry
Pithiviers with Angus beef and Périgueux sauce.
By day, the terrace accommodates skiers arriving
directly from the slopes. The concept centers on elevated interpretations of
regional specialties, including Savoyarde fondue variations. An open-air fire
pit anchors the daytime dining experience.
As the afternoon progresses, SALTO Lounge becomes the
focal point of the après-ski ritual, combining desserts, cocktails, and
Champagne with a relaxed social atmosphere.
Asaya Spa and post-ski recovery
Rosewood’s Asaya Spa introduces an integrative
wellness concept tailored to alpine recovery. Treatments include the Deep
Alpine Massage and the Oxylight 3D Radiance Ceremony.
The spa facilities comprise a swimming pool, sauna,
hammam, cold bath, jacuzzi, and a Technogym-equipped fitness suite. Design
elements reference glacial landscapes through marble, ceramics, and sculptural
lighting.
Curated alpine experiences
Personal Ski Concierges provide tailored access to Les
Trois Vallées, including the First Track experience. Families are accommodated
through a dedicated Kids Club featuring multiple activity spaces.
Starting rates begin at €2,900 per night, including
breakfast. Reservations are now available.
