Al Qimmah Hospitality, a subsidiary of BinDawood
Investment, and Marriott International have announced the signing of five new
hotel projects in Saudi Arabia. The agreement plans the addition of more than
2,700 rooms across Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah, further supporting the Kingdom’s
rapidly expanding tourism sector. The projects will be developed under four
Marriott brands: JW Marriott, Four Points by Sheraton, Element Hotels and, for
the first time in Saudi Arabia, Four Points Flex by Sheraton.
Investment aligned with Saudi Arabia’s tourism
ambitions
The new projects reflect growing confidence in Saudi
Arabia’s position as a global tourism destination and respond to rising demand
for accommodation in key religious and urban centres. Dr. Abdulrazzaq
BinDawood, Chairman of Al Qimmah Hospitality, said the additional hotels
underscore the company’s commitment to enhancing travel experiences for
domestic, regional and international visitors, while reinforcing the Kingdom’s
role as an international tourism hub.
Karim Cheltout, Senior Vice President – Development,
Middle East & Africa at Marriott International, highlighted the strategic
importance of the partnership, noting that the signing of the first Four Points
Flex by Sheraton in the Kingdom represents a milestone and opens further
opportunities to grow Marriott’s midscale portfolio in Saudi Arabia.
Marriott’s growing presence in the Kingdom
Marriott International recently marked a milestone of
100 hotels open and in the pipeline in Saudi Arabia. Active in the Kingdom for
more than 40 years, the company currently operates 44 properties with over
11,000 rooms across 13 brands, underlining the scale and diversity of its local
presence.
Details of the signed projects
The multi-deal agreement between Al Qimmah Hospitality
and Marriott International includes the following developments:
JW Marriott Jeddah, The Apartments
Located on Jeddah’s Corniche Road, the property is
expected to comprise 356 studios and one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments
with separate living areas and fully equipped kitchens. Designed to meet demand
for extended stays, the development is planned to include multiple dining
venues, a fitness centre, swimming pool, children’s club and an Executive
Boardroom. The apartments will be adjacent to the JW Marriott Hotel Jeddah
announced in 2024.
Four Points by Sheraton Shesha, Makkah, and Four
Points by Sheraton Madinah King Fahd Road
Four Points by Sheraton Shesha, Makkah is planned to
offer 1,030 rooms close to Masjid Al Haram, while Four Points by Sheraton
Madinah King Fahd Road is expected to feature 800 rooms near Masjid Al Nabawi.
Both hotels will reflect the brand’s focus on comfort and genuine service and
are set to include Grab n’ Go options, the signature Nitro Brews programme,
additional dining venues, meeting facilities and fitness centres.
Element Madinah Sultana Road
Element Madinah Sultana Road is designed for both
short- and long-term stays, with 136 studios and apartments featuring in-room
kitchens and spa-inspired bathrooms. Planned brand amenities include the Motion
Fitness Centre, complimentary Rise breakfast and Restore Grab & Go offering
fresh, on-the-go options.
Four Points Flex by Sheraton Madinah Hijrah Road
Expected to mark Marriott’s entry into the midscale
segment in Saudi Arabia, the hotel will comprise 450 rooms and focus on
delivering an efficient, uncomplicated guest experience. Located in Madinah’s
Al Amariyah district, the property will offer convenient access to the
Prophet’s Mosque.
Together, the five projects underline the shared
ambition of Al Qimmah Hospitality and Marriott International to support Saudi
Arabia’s tourism growth through a diversified, multi-brand hospitality offering
across key destinations.
