Agoda has released its 2026 Travel Outlook Report,
presenting an in-depth look at how travel in Asia is changing and which forces
will shape the coming year. The digital travel platform points to rapid
technological shifts, smoother travel processes and new demand patterns across
the region. “The travel landscape is evolving at an unprecedented pace, and
Asia is at the forefront of emerging trends,” said Omri Morgenshtern, Agoda’s
Chief Executive Officer. “With so many moving parts, 2026 feels like the beginning
of a new era in travel.”
A region in motion: from visa reforms to expanding
flight networks
Drawing on survey responses and industry data, the
report highlights efforts across Asia to reduce friction in every stage of the
travel experience. Investments in airport infrastructure, streamlined visa
policies and advances in digital payments are making cross-border travel more
accessible. Airlines in the Asia-Pacific region are set to receive an estimated
615 new aircraft in 2026, supporting both intra-regional and long-haul growth.
At the same time, AI is accelerating the convergence of travel services, with
travelers expecting technology to offer inspiration, simplify booking and
tailor their journeys more precisely.
Value-driven choices and the rise of secondary
destinations
Agoda’s survey confirms that price remains a decisive
factor when choosing accommodation. Travelers are searching for deals that
allow them to stretch their budget and explore more deeply. Secondary
destinations are rising in popularity as visitors seek authenticity and
meaningful encounters with local culture. Experiential travel—whether concerts,
culinary trips or other immersive experiences—continues to shift into the
mainstream as travelers prioritize memorable moments over ticking off
well-known sights.
Preparing for 2026: agility and innovation as key
drivers
The report emphasizes that staying responsive to
technological change and traveler expectations will be essential for the
industry’s growth in 2026. Understanding what travelers value, and anticipating
how those preferences evolve, will open new opportunities for both established
brands and emerging players.
With access to more than 6 million holiday properties,
over 130,000 flight routes and more than 300,000 activities worldwide, Agoda
offers breadth across all segments of travel. Further details and the full 2026
Travel Outlook Report can be found on Agoda’s website; the report is available
