The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) reinforced regional tourism cooperation during Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2026, held from 10 to 12 June in Pattaya, Chon Buri. Supported by a pre-event familiarisation programme, the initiative brought together tourism representatives from the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) and Bhutan to strengthen connectivity, encourage sustainable tourism development and expand cross-border travel opportunities.

Regional partnerships take centre stage

The programme built on existing tourism cooperation within the Greater Mekong Subregion and the Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation between Thailand and Bhutan. TAT welcomed 18 representatives from the public and private sectors, including delegates from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Lao PDR, the Ministry of Hotels, Tourism and Culture of Myanmar, the Department of Tourism of Bhutan, and tourism industry representatives from Lao PDR and Myanmar.

"Regional cooperation is increasingly important to TAT's quality-led tourism direction, particularly as travellers seek well-connected experiences shaped by culture, nature, wellness, and local identity. Through closer collaboration, partner destinations can develop responsible travel routes, create business opportunities, and generate wider benefits for destinations, communities, and visitors," said Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

Promoting connected travel experiences

Dedicated information booths enabled participating destinations to showcase regional tourism products and strengthen business relationships with international buyers and Thai tourism operators throughout TTM+ 2026.

Ahead of the event, TAT organised a familiarisation programme in Pattaya on 9 June, highlighting Thailand's quality tourism experiences through cultural attractions, marine tourism and wellness activities. The itinerary included visits to the Sanctuary of Truth, a yacht excursion and health and wellness experiences.

Expanding opportunities across the region

The familiarisation programme provided an opportunity for tourism authorities and businesses to exchange expertise, strengthen professional networks and explore future partnerships. At the same time, it showcased Thailand's tourism strengths within a broader regional context, supporting TAT's strategy to create connected travel experiences, expand market reach and generate long-term tourism benefits across the Greater Mekong Subregion and neighbouring destinations.
