Bangkok has secured prominent positions in the
Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best 2026 for food
destinations, reinforcing its global reputation for culinary diversity and
quality. According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the city ranked
fourth in Asia and ninth worldwide in the Best of the Best Destinations – Food
(World) category. Within the regional rankings, Bangkok placed first in ASEAN
and second in Asia in the Best of the Best Destinations – Food (Asia) category.
The results highlight Bangkok’s continued appeal to
travellers seeking both celebrated dining venues and everyday food experiences,
reflecting a food culture that is deeply rooted yet constantly evolving.
Recognition Driven by Traveller Voices
The Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards
represent Tripadvisor’s highest distinction, placing winners among the top one
percent of listings worldwide. Rankings are based on the quality and volume of
verified traveller reviews and ratings over a twelve-month period, offering a
direct reflection of visitor experiences rather than expert juries.
Bangkok’s strong performance across multiple
categories underscores the city’s consistent ability to meet and exceed
traveller expectations, from street food stalls and local eateries to
contemporary restaurants and international fine dining.
Culinary Identity with Global Reach
Ms Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism
Authority of Thailand, commented: “Bangkok’s continued recognition reflects the
city’s role as a leading culinary capital where tradition and creativity come
together. These high rankings across multiple categories highlight the depth,
diversity, and everyday accessibility of Bangkok’s food culture, from
celebrated restaurants to local dining experiences. They reinforce Thailand’s
global gastronomic standing and invite travellers to explore the city’s flavours
with confidence and curiosity.”
Her remarks point to a defining characteristic of
Bangkok’s food scene: its ability to offer world-class dining alongside
informal, affordable experiences that remain central to daily life.
Sustained International Acclaim
The Tripadvisor accolades align with a broader pattern
of international recognition. Bangkok remains a cornerstone of the MICHELIN
Guide Thailand, with a growing portfolio of Michelin-starred restaurants
representing fine dining, modern Thai cuisine and refined interpretations of
local traditions. At the same time, the city continues to feature prominently
in global food and travel rankings published by leading international media and
industry platforms.
Together, these distinctions reinforce Bangkok’s
standing as a globally recognised gastronomic capital and strengthen Thailand’s
position as one of Asia’s most dynamic food destinations, appealing to
travellers who value authenticity, creativity and culinary depth.
