WTTC congratulates Shaikha Al Nowais on her appointment as UN Tourism Secretary-General
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and its
members have extended their warmest congratulations to Shaikha Al Nowais on her
official appointment as Secretary-General of UN Tourism.
WTTC described the appointment as a milestone for the
global travel and tourism community, expressing confidence that Shaikha Al
Nowais’s leadership and vision will play a crucial role in guiding the sector
toward a more inclusive and prosperous future.
The global travel and tourism sector contributes over
10% to the world’s GDP and supports more than 357 million jobs worldwide. In
its statement, WTTC reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating closely with UN
Tourism to advance shared goals of sustainability, resilience, and equitable
growth.
“We stand ready to support UN Tourism’s vital
mission,” the Council noted, “and look forward to strengthening our partnership
under this new and inspiring leadership.”
