Indonesian airline TransNusa has increased its
Jakarta–Singapore service to four daily flights, continuing a rapid expansion
on one of Southeast Asia’s important international air corridors. The
additional frequency began operating on 7 October 2026, less than six months
after the carrier introduced its third daily service in April. The expansion
reflects growing passenger demand and gives travellers more flexibility when
planning journeys between the two cities.
The new evening flight departs Jakarta’s
Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 17:40 and arrives at Singapore Changi
Airport at 20:20. The return service leaves Singapore at 21:20 and reaches
Jakarta at 21:55. All times are local. The route is operated with Airbus A320
aircraft, with Singapore services using Changi Airport’s Terminal 4.
With departures now available throughout the day,
TransNusa is strengthening its position in a market serving both corporate and
leisure passengers. The additional evening connection provides another option
for travellers seeking greater flexibility, particularly those combining
business appointments with international journeys or arranging short stays in
either destination.
Rapid expansion on a competitive route
The fourth daily frequency represents another step in
TransNusa’s international network development. The airline initially operated
two daily services between Jakarta and Singapore before increasing the schedule
to three flights in April 2026.
Datuk Bernard Francis, Group Chief Executive Officer
of TransNusa, said the expansion reflected growing confidence in the airline
and its ability to respond to market demand.
"Scaling our presence to four daily flights on
the Jakarta-Singapore corridor reflects the growing trust in the TransNusa
brand," Francis said.
He also highlighted the airline’s ability to secure
additional operating frequencies at Singapore Changi Airport, describing the
development as evidence of its operational capabilities and commercial
flexibility.
The expansion follows recognition at the Changi
Airline Awards 2026, where TransNusa became the first Indonesian carrier to
receive the award for Top Airlines by Absolute Passenger Growth in Southeast
Asia. The distinction came just 17 months after the airline began operating at
Changi Airport.
For passengers, the increased frequency means a
broader selection of departure times between Indonesia’s capital and Singapore,
one of the region’s principal aviation and business hubs.
Premium service strategy supports growth
TransNusa positions itself between traditional
low-cost airlines and established full-service carriers. Its business model
combines competitive fares with selected service features, including baggage
allowances, seating options and a cabin configuration designed to provide
additional comfort.
The airline introduced this approach in 2023 as part
of a broader strategy to expand its presence in international markets. The
Jakarta–Singapore frequency increase demonstrates how the carrier is applying
that model to routes with substantial business and leisure demand.
TransNusa is also developing differentiated products
on longer international services. On 19 October 2026, the airline is scheduled
to introduce its customised Premium Plus cabin offering on flights between
Melbourne and Bali.
The new product includes priority services and
enhanced baggage allowances, providing passengers with an additional service
option on the Australia–Indonesia route.
While the Melbourne–Bali development targets a
different travel market, both initiatives form part of TransNusa’s strategy to
broaden its international network and offer greater choice across its route
portfolio.
The fourth daily Jakarta–Singapore service is already
available for booking. Passengers can select flights, seating options and fares
through the airline’s regular reservation channels.
