Princess Cruises has announced that Alfredo’s Pizzeria
aboard Sun Princess and Star Princess has been awarded the prestigious Ospitalità
Italiana Certification—the highest global recognition for authentic Italian
cuisine and hospitality.
A global hallmark of Italian culinary excellence
Recognized worldwide as a symbol of authenticity and
quality, the Ospitalità Italiana Certification is granted only to dining venues
that preserve Italy’s rich culinary heritage. The award underscores Princess
Cruises’ commitment to delivering genuine Italian flavors at sea, using fresh
ingredients, traditional techniques, and the highest service standards.
Neapolitan-style pizza, crafted at sea
At Alfredo’s Pizzeria, guests enjoy authentic
Neapolitan-style pizzas made to order with hand-stretched dough and baked in a
stone Moretti Forni oven. Skilled onboard chefs adhere to classic Italian
methods, ensuring each pizza reflects time-honored craftsmanship and flavor.
Celebrating National Pizza Day with a world champion
The milestone coincides with National Pizza Day and
highlights Princess Cruises’ collaboration with chef partner Tony Gemignani, a
13-time World Pizza Champion. Gemignani has created five signature pizzas for
Princess Cruises—served across the fleet of 17 ships—featuring premium
ingredients such as soppressata sausage, hot honey, Gorgonzola, and sweet fig
preserves.
“Earning the Ospitalità Italiana Certification is a
meaningful validation of our dedication to authentic Italian culinary
excellence,” said Sami Kohen, Vice President of Food and Beverage at Princess
Cruises. “Together with Chef Tony Gemignani, we’re proud to bring our guests
closer to the tastes, traditions, and hospitality of Italy—one perfectly
crafted pizza at a time.”
Reinforcing a reputation for the “Best Pizza at Sea”
The certification further strengthens Princess
Cruises’ standing as a destination for true Italian dining and supports its
recognition by USA Today for offering the “Best Pizza at Sea.”
