IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of Kimpton
Al Rowda Doha, marking the debut of its iconic luxury lifestyle brand Kimpton
in Qatar. Scheduled to open in mid-2026, the 283-key hotel will bring Kimpton’s
distinctive blend of expressive design, culinary creativity and heartfelt
hospitality to the heart of the Qatari capital.
A new lifestyle hub in the heart of Doha
Located in a vibrant downtown district, Kimpton Al
Rowda Doha will be positioned close to major commercial centers, cultural
landmarks and key attractions, making it an ideal address for both business and
leisure travelers. The hotel will reflect Kimpton’s human-centered philosophy,
designed to foster authentic social connection and immersive lifestyle
experiences.
Design-led rooms and a strong culinary focus
The property will feature carefully curated guest
rooms, suites and apartments. Five dining and lounge concepts will anchor the
hotel’s social life, including a destination rooftop bar offering panoramic
city views. In true Kimpton style, the hotel will combine imaginative
gastronomy with bold design and a welcoming, pet-friendly approach.
A milestone for IHG in the Middle East
Haitham Mattar, Managing Director, IHG Hotels &
Resorts – India, Middle East & Africa, described the signing as a strategic
step:
“Bringing the Kimpton brand to Doha is a milestone
moment for IHG in the Middle East. Kimpton’s ability to weave local stories
into intuitive, design-forward hospitality makes it a perfect fit for a city
defined by contrast and ambition.”
He added that the conversion will reimagine a
well-located property into a beacon of boutique luxury, tailored to the
expectations of today’s experience-driven travelers.
Partnership aligned with Doha’s global ambitions
Sheikh Khalid Bin Jassim Al Thani emphasized the
strategic importance of the project, noting that the transition to the Kimpton
brand aligns with both the vision for the property and Doha’s trajectory as an
international luxury destination. The hotel is set to represent a new benchmark
for boutique luxury hospitality in the region.
Doha’s growing appeal as a global destination
As a leading hub for culture, aviation and
international events, Doha continues to see strong growth in international
visitation. World-class cultural institutions such as the Museum of Islamic Art
and the National Museum of Qatar, combined with bold contemporary architecture,
position the city at the intersection of tradition and modern luxury.
Continued expansion of the Kimpton brand
The signing in Doha strengthens IHG’s expanding luxury
and lifestyle footprint in the Middle East. Following the successful opening of
Kimpton KAFD in Riyadh, the brand is set to enter new markets with upcoming
debuts in Dubai and Jeddah.
IHG currently operates eight hotels in Qatar across
five brands, including InterContinental, voco, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and
Staybridge Suites, underlining the group’s long-term commitment to the
destination.
