The integration of ITA Airways into the Lufthansa
Group is reaching a major milestone as the Italian airline joins the Miles
& More loyalty program. Starting 1 April, Miles & More will become the
official frequent flyer program for ITA Airways, opening the program to all
passengers of the carrier.
By joining Miles & More, ITA Airways customers
will gain access to one of the world’s largest travel loyalty networks. Members
can earn and redeem miles across a network of 35 airline partners and more than
135 additional program partners worldwide, including hotels, car rental
companies and international retail brands.
Registration for the program will also be available
through the airline’s website and mobile app. From the moment they join, ITA
Airways passengers will be able to collect miles across the Lufthansa Group
airlines, the global Star Alliance network and additional partner carriers.
Expanded benefits for passengers
Miles earned through flights or partner services can
be redeemed for award flights, travel experiences and a wide range of products
and services. Members can also earn “Points” toward frequent flyer status
within the Lufthansa Group network.
Existing ITA Airways frequent flyers will be offered
the opportunity to switch to Miles & More through a status match program.
Additional joint offers and benefits between ITA Airways and Miles & More
are expected to follow during the year.
Program now reaches 39 million members
With the addition of ITA Airways, Miles & More
further strengthens its position as Europe’s leading loyalty program in the
travel sector. The program currently counts around 39 million members
worldwide, who will now also be able to earn and redeem miles across ITA
Airways’ route network.
Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer Lufthansa
Group, said: “Welcoming ITA Airways to the Miles & More program is a unique
milestone, not only from a program offer perspective but also from the
airline’s customers perspective. With this step, we continue to be on track
integrating ITA Airways as Hub Airline.
“The ITA Airways customers will get access to an
industry-leading program, which will further expand its excellent position and
create additional synergies for its worldwide customer base. ITA Airways has
made the strategic decision to use Miles & More as a large and globally
anchored loyalty program and to offer its customers a worldwide route network
for earning miles in the future. ITA Airways will thus integrate further into
our Lufthansa Group airline commercial powerhouse.”
