InterContinental, the world’s first luxury hotel
brand, is unveiling one of the inaugural resorts on Shura Island—a flagship
destination aligned with Saudi Vision 2030. InterContinental The Red Sea Resort
features 210 rooms surrounded by pristine waters, coral reefs and protected
marine ecosystems, blending natural beauty with forward-looking, sustainable
design. Bold, coral-inspired architecture and intuitive service aim to offer a
deep sense of escapism on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast.
General Manager Francesco Pantalone describes the
opening as “a new chapter for guests to explore the Red Sea’s extraordinary
beauty”, highlighting refined design, bespoke experiences and a spirit of
discovery.
Design leadership and luxury for the modern traveller
Designed by Foster + Partners with interiors by
Kristina Zanic Consultants, the LEED BD+C Platinum-certified resort integrates
contemporary forms with the island landscape. Guest rooms and suites—from 50
sqm spaces to a three-bedroom Red Sea suite—follow a neuroscience-guided
approach created with designer Isabelle Sjövall, focusing on tones, textures,
lighting and biophilic elements to enhance wellbeing.
Guests gain complimentary access to Timeshifter, the
circadian-science app used by NASA, for personalised jet lag support. Club
InterContinental offers private check-in and exclusive amenities, while Planet
Trekkers provides marine-themed activities for children and teens. Adults can
retreat to The SPA InterContinental, where open-air wellbeing domes host
rituals, hydrotherapy and yoga.
Culture, gastronomy and local immersion
InterContinental teams serve as cultural connectors,
with the resort’s Concierge curating bespoke experiences such as sailing,
cycling routes and diving among vibrant coral reefs.
Dining spans Levantine-Moroccan flavours at Darein,
South American-inspired shared plates at Ardo, and Mediterranean tapas at
Chimes. Chef Raamin’s dessert studio, Murrma, transforms mangrove landscapes
and personal memories into contemporary pastry creations.
InterContinental The Red Sea Resort joins more than
235 InterContinental hotels worldwide and marks IHG’s seventh luxury property
in western Saudi Arabia, with further openings ahead.
