IHG Hotels & Resorts is reintroducing its luxury
brand InterContinental to the Philippines with the signing of InterContinental
Manila. Scheduled to open in 2032, the 212-room hotel will mark the brand’s
return to the Philippine capital after more than 15 years and underline IHG’s
long-term commitment to the country’s growing tourism and hospitality sector.
The new property will be located in Bonifacio Global
City (BGC), a 240-hectare master-planned district that has developed from a
former military base into one of Metro Manila’s most modern business and
lifestyle hubs. The area is home to the Philippine Stock Exchange, numerous
multinational companies and several of the country’s most prominent landmarks.
Luxury hotel in Manila’s key business district
InterContinental Manila will offer a range of
facilities aimed at both international travellers and business guests. Planned
amenities include an all-day dining restaurant as well as a signature specialty
restaurant and bar.
The hotel will also feature extensive meeting and
event facilities, including a ballroom, function rooms and meeting spaces
designed for conferences and corporate events. Leisure facilities will include
a fully equipped health club and spa, as well as an outdoor swimming pool with
a poolside bar.
Vivek Bhalla, Managing Director, South East Asia &
Korea at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said:
“The InterContinental brand has a storied history in
Manila, having first opened in the city in 1969 and for 46 years it was a
symbol of luxury and a hotel icon. Reintroducing InterContinental to Manila is
a wonderful milestone, and a perfect fit for the city with strong long-term
fundamentals and increasing demand for luxury travel. This signing reinforces
our commitment to expanding our Luxury & Lifestyle presence across the
Philippines and the wider region.”
Partnership with Philippine developers
IHG is developing the project in partnership with
Keyland Corporation, Philippine Realty and Holdings Corporation and Greenhills
Properties Inc. Keyland has previously delivered residential and commercial
developments in major urban centres such as Makati, Alabang, Las Piñas and
Ortigas and is now expanding further into the hospitality sector.
Philippine Realty and Holdings Corporation focuses on
property development, sales, leasing and property management and has developed
upscale residential projects and commercial properties in areas including
Ortigas Center, Quezon City and Bonifacio Global City. Greenhills Properties
Inc. is also active in property development and manages premium real estate
assets in BGC.
Jose Ma. Montinola, President of Keyland Corporation,
said:
“Partnering with IHG to bring a globally recognised
and well-loved brand such as InterContinental to Manila is an exciting new
chapter for our partnership. We are immensely proud to build on the brand’s
storied legacy in Manila and to play an integral role in its return to the
capital, delivering a stand-out hotel that honours its past while setting a new
benchmark for luxury stays in the city.”
Global luxury brand with expanding portfolio
InterContinental Manila will become part of a global
network of more than 240 InterContinental hotels and resorts worldwide. The
brand also has two additional properties currently in development in the
Philippines and a global pipeline of more than 100 projects.
In 2026, InterContinental will celebrate its 80th
anniversary, continuing a legacy that has positioned the brand as one of the
most established names in luxury hospitality worldwide.
