IHG
Hotels & Resorts has introduced Shanghai Snow World Hotel to its
fast-growing Vignette Collection, a family of one-of-a-kind hotels in
destinations to remember. The property is now open within the Guinness World
Records-certified “World’s Largest Indoor Ski Facility” – Shanghai
L+SNOW Indoor Skiing Theme Resort – and has 272 rooms and 17 suites with direct
access to more than 90,000 square meters of authentic indoor year-round snow.
Shanghai
Snow World Hotel is the first new build Vignette Collection property in China
and alongside Crowne Plaza Shanghai Snow is one of two IHG brands to open
within the Shanghai L+SNOW Indoor Skiing Theme Resort development. Both hotels
serve the rising demand for ‘ice and snow’ hospitality in China which continues
to rise 38% year-on-year according to the China Tourism Academy.
Irwin
Bao, General Manager of Shanghai Snow World Hotel, Vignette Collection,
stated: “Shanghai L+SNOW Indoor Skiing Theme Resort is a groundbreaking
development and a fitting stage for a Vignette Collection hotel. Shanghai Snow
World hotel is one-of-a-kind and brings a new dimension of discovery to IHG’s
first collection brand. With all the amenities a skier may seek after the
euphoria of the wonderland of ski and ice facilities that surround us, we
invite our guests to experience its unique interpretation of the Vignette
Collection hallmarks. We are proud to introduce a destination to remember.”
Shanghai
Snow World Hotel, Vignette Collection is a destination for year-round ski
getaway inspired by the tranquility and invigorating spirit of the Nordic
lifestyle. Just 30km from Shanghai Disney and Pudong Airport, the hotel
caterers to both skiing enthusiasts and snow seekers alike with fast-track
access to ski slopes, indoor and outdoor water parks, and a tournament-level
ice rink all within reach of its rooms.
Shanghai
Snow World Hotel has four unique restaurants and bars, each serving a diverse
variety of local delicacies and international flavors. Teppanyaki, located
on the 18th floor, and The Peak on the top floor both boast
panoramic views of the indoor winter wonderland.
The
third-floor houses eight versatile meeting rooms ideal for corporate events and
personal gatherings, complemented by a dynamic pre-function area fitting for
hosting themed events. For relaxation and fitness, guests have access to a
state-of-the-art fitness center and an indoor heated swimming pool.
Shanghai
Snow World Hotel is an example of the many one-of-a-kind hotels joining
Vignette Collection in 2024 and 2025. Just three years after the brand’s
introduction, Vignette Collection has surpassed the halfway point in its
initial aim to reach 100 open and pipeline hotels in 10 years. Shanghai Snow
World Hotel joins a family of 19 Vignette Collection hotels now open around the
world with a further 34 in the pipeline* that will mark brand debuts in markets
such as Japan, Vietnam and The Maldives.
Emblematic
of a collection brand, Shanghai Snow World Hotel sits in juxtaposition to
properties like NOKU Maldives, a 50-room private villa resort, CIEL Tower, soon
to be the world’s tallest hotel when it opens in Dubai, and RIHGA Royal Hotel
Osaka, one of the cities oldest and most sought-after hotels with over 90 years
of history.
Tom
Rowntree, Vice President of Luxury & Lifestyle Brands at IHG Hotels &
Resorts, said: “The creation of the Vignette Collection brand has allowed
us to grow a family of properties that offers guests one-of-a-kind experiences
at hotels filled with individuality and character. The brand is a demonstration
of both future innovation and hotels filled with rich history. Hotels like
Shanghai Snow World are shining examples of our unique offer for guests,
bringing the future to life, while properties like the legendary RIHGA Royal
Hotel Osaka offer a stay experience enjoyed for generations with a deep
history. Vignette Collection will continue to grow, with each hotel adding
something new, exciting, and unique to the collection for our guests to
experience around the world.”
Vignette
Collection combines each property’s individual identity with the brand’s
collective vision to offer a more authentic travel experience. Each property is
unique, yet united through key hallmarks Memorable Rituals and ‘A
Means For Good’:
Memorable
Rituals – bespoke to each Vignette Collection property – connect guests
with the hotel’s unique identity, locality, and cultural landscape. Guests of
Shanghai Snow World Hotel can participate in the "Engraved Ceremony,"
a signature gathering designed to evoke the essence of Après-ski. Each Friday
and Saturday afternoon at 3pm, after a day of skiing and snow recreation,
guests are invited to unwind in the warm ambiance of the lobby, unwinding
beside the fireplace where a selection of treats like rich butter beer or hot
chocolate are served. This memorable ritual is designed to encapsulate the joy
and camaraderie of snow sports, offering both physical relaxation and a chance
to forge lasting memories with fellow guests and newfound friends.
A
Means For Good initiatives weaved throughout all Vignette Collection
properties represent each hotel’s commitment to responsibility, community
engagement, and local culture. With a commitment to tailoring initiatives to
suit the unique character of each hotel, they partner with non-profit
organizations to contribute positively to the local ecosystem.
At
Shanghai Snow World Hotel, Vignette Collection this commitment takes shape
through the forthcoming “Assistance Program for Youth in Need” partnership
developed with the Shanghai Lingang Public Welfare Foundation. This
program aims to enrich the Lingang community by offering a series of public
service seminars, skills training, and other vital initiatives to support the
growth and development of underprivileged young individuals in the area.
IHG’s
Luxury and Lifestyle portfolio has grown significantly in recent years and
currently includes 6 brands, over 500 hotels and a pipeline of over 350 hotels.
Vignette Collection is IHG’s first collection brand and represents a curation
of distinct hotels demonstrating diversity and discovery. Part of IHG’s leading
luxury and lifestyle portfolio – one of the world’s largest – it offers a
compelling way for owners of one-of-a-kind hotels to benefit from IHG’s
powerful enterprise offering and global scale, whilst enabling guests to
