Hilton (NYSE: HLT)
has today announced the signing of four new hotels in Lyon, France, following
franchise agreements with Arteloge.
These
signings mark the launch of the Spark by Hilton premium economy brand in
France, as well as Lyon’s second DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, an upscale brand
popular with both business and leisure travellers. Spark by Hilton Lyon Ouest
and Spark by Hilton Lyon Park Saone are set to open in late 2025, with Spark by
Hilton Lyon Eurexpo due to join Hilton’s portfolio in the summer of 2026.
DoubleTree by Hilton Lyon Plage is scheduled to welcome guests in 2028. In
total, the four hotels will have a combined 655 rooms.
Patrick
Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton, said, “France
remains a key strategic growth market for us, with plans to increase our
portfolio by more than 50 per cent. We’re excited to be further expanding our
presence in Lyon, a major city known for its rich culture, commerce and
excellent connectivity. Working alongside Arteloge, we will be introducing
Spark by Hilton to France as well as growing our DoubleTree by Hilton brand,
demonstrating our commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences in
collaboration with trusted owners who have a deep understanding of the local
market.”
Eric
Giorgi, CEO, Arteloge, said, “We’re delighted to be working with Hilton to
bring four new properties to Lyon. This collaboration underscores our shared
commitment to innovation and quality. We’re proud to play a role in introducing
Spark by Hilton to France and expanding the presence of DoubleTree by Hilton in
the region. We look forward to welcoming guests to these exceptional properties
in the coming years.”
Spark
by Hilton
The
introduction of Spark by Hilton in Lyon represents a pivotal milestone for the
premium economy segment in France. The 102-room Spark by Hilton Lyon
Ouest and 100-room Spark by Hilton Lyon Park Saone hotels will
both be located close to the business district and near the banks of the Saône
River in the 9th arrondissement of Lyon.
Spark
by Hilton Lyon Eurexpo will be located in close proximity to the Eurexpo
exhibition, as well as being conveniently located to Lyon airports and the
motorways.
All
three properties will deliver reliable, friendly essentials and feature Spark’s
signature amenities, including:
Guest
rooms with practical amenities, including simple streamlined furniture, an open
closet, multi-purpose work surface and bright bathroom featuring Zero% bathroom
amenities.
Bright
public spaces providing multi-functional seating, from communal tables to
rocking chairs, offering plenty of comfortable options for guests to socialise
or work.
A
signature Hydration Cart featuring complimentary still and sparkling water as
well as fresh fruit.
A
24-hour retail market, where on-the-go travellers can purchase food, drinks and
other essentials around the clock.
Simple,
inspired design with splashes of colour, vibrant exterior statement walls and
energising artwork.
The
brand not only delivers exceptional value for guests, but also offers a
compelling proposition for owners and operators. A cost-effective conversion
brand, it provides a unique opportunity for existing properties by reimagining
the premium economy segment and focusing on areas that drive the guest
experience, while also providing a consistent look and feel across each
hotel.
DoubleTree
by Hilton Lyon Plage
Scheduled
to open its doors in 2028 after a full renovation, Lyon’s second DoubleTree by
Hilton hotel will offer 118 elegantly designed guest rooms alongside 56
extended-stay accommodations. Guests will be able to enjoy a range of
amenities, including a restaurant, a bar, and 12 fully equipped conference
rooms, making it an ideal choice for both leisure and business travellers.
Conveniently located near key transport links, the hotel is perfectly
positioned to cater to a variety of travel needs. The property is also situated
along the banks of the Saône River and adjacent to one of the largest spa
facilities in France offering a wide range of wellness services. Upon arrival,
guests will be welcomed with DoubleTree by Hilton’s signature warm chocolate
chip cookie, setting the tone for a comfortable and welcoming stay.
