Hainan has welcomed a delegation of media
professionals, tourism influencers and content creators from Hong Kong for a
six-day familiarisation trip designed to highlight the island’s tourism
attractions and the progress of the Hainan Free Trade Port. The initiative
brings together representatives from the media, members of Hong Kong’s
Legislative Council and influential digital creators with a combined social
media reach of more than one million followers.
The programme, titled “Chasing Aerospace Dreams,
Embracing Hainan FTP: 2026 Hong Kong Media Talents Exchange & Interview
Event”, began with an official launch ceremony in Haikou, the capital of Hainan
Province.
Tourism ambassadors for Hainan
During the opening ceremony, the Hainan Provincial
Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Film and Sports appointed ten
participants as 2026 Hainan International Tourism Promotion Ambassadors.
The ambassadors are expected to use their digital
platforms and professional networks to introduce Hainan’s tourism experiences
to wider audiences and help raise awareness of the island province in Hong Kong
and international markets.
With followers across Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and
TikTok, the participating creators represent an increasingly important channel
for destination marketing and visitor engagement.
Exploring destinations across the island
Over the course of the tour, the delegation will visit
several destinations across Hainan, including Qionghai, Wanning, Wenchang and
Lingshui.
The itinerary combines tourism experiences with
insights into the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port, one of China’s
most ambitious economic initiatives. Participants will have the opportunity to
explore local attractions, cultural sites and infrastructure projects while
documenting their experiences for audiences in Hong Kong and beyond.
Strengthening tourism and cultural exchange
Organisers see the programme as an opportunity to
present a comprehensive picture of Hainan’s transformation through the
perspective of Hong Kong media representatives and digital influencers.
Beyond tourism promotion, the initiative is intended
to strengthen cultural exchange and cooperation between Hainan and Hong Kong.
By bringing influential voices to the island, officials hope to encourage
greater awareness of Hainan’s tourism offerings and its growing role as an
international travel destination.
The media tour forms part of broader efforts to
position Hainan as a leading tourism hub in Asia while showcasing the
opportunities created by the ongoing development of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
