Delta Air Lines is celebrating a series of
anniversaries across Latin America: 25 years of service in Bogotá and Santiago,
10 years in Cartagena and 100 years since the airline’s founding. The
milestones fallen together with the third year of the Delta–LATAM Joint
Venture, a partnership that is reshaping travel between North and South
America.
The celebrations brought aviation leaders, corporate
partners, media and community stakeholders together at events in Bogotá on Oct.
29 and Santiago on Nov. 4 — occasions that highlighted both the achievements of
the past decades and Delta’s ambitions for the region.
Connecting cultures and key markets
For a quarter of a century, Delta has linked travelers
with the history, landscapes and vibrant urban centers of Colombia and Chile.
Bogotá’s high-altitude blend of colonial heritage, world-class museums and
panoramic views from Monserrate; Cartagena’s UNESCO-listed old town and
Caribbean atmosphere; and Santiago’s mix of cosmopolitan energy, wine country
and Andean scenery all sit at the heart of Delta’s network in the region.
Delta continues to invest in product enhancements on
these routes. The flagship upgrade of the Atlanta–Santiago service to an Airbus
A350-900 offers customers Delta Premium Select, with more space, deeper recline
and regionally inspired dining.
Current
service at a glance
Bogotá: Two daily flights to Atlanta, with one
upgauged to a Boeing 767 during peak travel periods
Cartagena: Seasonal Atlanta service, three times
weekly on Boeing 737 aircraft
Santiago: Daily A350 service to Atlanta, plus a second
seasonal frequency between Dec. 11 and Jan. 19
From these gateways, customers can connect to more
than 150 destinations across the U.S. and Canada, including Orlando, Boston,
Chicago and San Francisco.
Delta and LATAM: a Joint Venture transforming the
customer experience
Since launching in 2022, the Delta–LATAM Joint Venture
has significantly expanded connectivity across the Americas. Over three years,
capacity increased by 88%, more than 62,000 flights were operated and 30 new
routes were added — among them Lima–Salt Lake City, Miami–Buenos Aires and
Bogotá–Miami.
The partnership also focuses on service quality: fast,
free Wi-Fi with SkyMiles membership on Delta flights; smoother airport
connections; reciprocal elite benefits through SkyMiles and LATAM Pass; and
Delta One touches such as curated menus by Chef José Andrés and a wine program
featuring VIK “A” Cabernet Sauvignon, available on international flights from
October through December.
Delta at 100: celebrating a century of innovation
Delta’s centennial year underscores the airline’s
focus on innovation and customer experience. Key moments include the Centennial
Gala, a refreshed Delta Flight Museum in Atlanta, commemorative aircraft livery
and technology showcases at CES 2025. The airline also debuted an AI-powered
virtual assistant beta in the Delta app and personalized inflight entertainment
— part of Delta’s broader digital transformation. Recognition as one of
Fortune’s Best Companies to Work For reflects its commitment to workplace
excellence.
Why these milestones matter
Delta’s anniversaries in Colombia and Chile are more
than symbolic. They highlight a sustained investment in connectivity, cultural
exchange and economic opportunity. For travelers, the result is easier access
to family, business and leisure destinations — supported by a travel experience
that blends innovation with local character.
Together, Delta and LATAM continue to reshape travel
across the hemisphere, advancing Delta’s vision of making every journey not
only a flight, but an experience to anticipate.
