Club Med has announced the opening of reservations for
its new resort in Malaysia, Club Med Borneo. Bookings will officially open on
23 March 2026, marking the next step in the brand’s expansion in Asia Pacific.
The resort is scheduled to welcome its first guests in November 2026.
Second Malaysian resort with focus on sustainability
Club Med Borneo will be the company’s second property
in Malaysia, following Club Med Cherating. The new resort is designed as a
large-scale, sustainably built beach destination and is expected to become the
brand’s first BREEAM-certified resort in the Asia Pacific region.
Located on the shores of Kuala Penyu, approximately 90
minutes from Kota Kinabalu International Airport, the resort combines coastal
scenery with proximity to ancient rainforest landscapes along the South China
Sea.
Architecture inspired by local heritage
The design concept draws on Borneo’s cultural
heritage. A central timber pavilion, inspired by traditional Rumah Rungus
longhouses, forms the architectural core and integrates with the surrounding
natural environment.
The resort will offer around 400 rooms, including 39
Exclusive Collection Suites with enhanced privacy. The Mutiara Exclusive
Collection provides a separate “resort within a resort” concept, featuring a
private lounge, exclusive pool and dedicated bar.
Comprehensive leisure and family offering
Facilities include multiple pools, such as a main
infinity pool and a splash park, as well as a range of dining venues. Families
are catered to through dedicated Kids’ Club programmes, while evening
entertainment is hosted at the main theatre.
Additional amenities include meeting facilities, a spa
set within a forest environment and access to nearby mangrove areas, offering
opportunities to explore the region’s natural and cultural heritage.
Opening offer for early bookings
Reservations open on 23 March 2026. Guests booking
stays between 16 November 2026 and 3 January 2027 will receive a complimentary
upgrade to Deluxe rooms, subject to availability and applicable conditions.
