Digital travel platform Agoda has released new data on
the most popular destinations for the upcoming Hari Raya holiday period.
According to the platform’s accommodation search data, Indonesian destinations
dominate this year’s travel plans, with Bali, Yogyakarta and Bandung emerging
as the three most sought-after locations among travelers from Indonesia,
Malaysia and Singapore.
Hari Raya, also known as Eid al-Fitr, marks the end of
Ramadan and is traditionally a time for celebration, gratitude and family
gatherings. During the festive period, many travelers take the opportunity to
reconnect with relatives, celebrate together and spend time exploring new
destinations.
Indonesian destinations lead holiday travel
Agoda’s data highlights a strong preference for
destinations within Indonesia. Bali, Yogyakarta and Bandung top the list for
Hari Raya travel, reflecting the continued appeal of the country’s beaches,
cultural heritage and vibrant urban life.
Other destinations rounding out the top ten include
Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Tokyo in Japan, Jakarta in Indonesia, Bangkok in
Thailand, Singapore, Penang in Malaysia and Malang in Indonesia.
The results illustrate a broader regional travel
pattern during the festive season. Many travelers opt for relatively short-haul
trips that combine island escapes, cultural experiences and dynamic city
breaks.
Short-haul trips remain popular
According to Agoda’s analysis, destinations offering a
mix of nature, relaxation and cultural attractions are particularly appealing
during Hari Raya. Locations such as Bali and Yogyakarta attract visitors
seeking both leisure and cultural exploration, while cities like Kuala Lumpur
and Tokyo appeal to travelers looking for lively urban experiences.
Krishna Rathi, Associate Vice President at Agoda,
said:
“Hari Raya is a special time for many. As the holiday
approaches, we are seeing travelers expressing interest in short-haul
destinations that offer a chance for meaningful connection and reunion with
loved ones, or a brief escape to unwind after a month of spiritual reflection.
It's especially exciting to see travelers embracing the diverse offerings of
Indonesia and throughout Asia. From the beaches of Bali to the cultural sites
of Yogyakarta, Agoda is thrilled to support these meaningful journeys with great
deals across accommodations, flights and activities.”
Wide range of travel options on the platform
Travelers planning their holidays can choose from more
than six million accommodation listings on Agoda. The platform also offers
access to over 130,000 flight routes and more than 300,000 activities, which
can be combined within a single booking.
