Newly renovated:
Steigenberger Golf Resort El Gouna
With its expansive
18-hole championship golf course, designed by Gene Bates and Fred Couples,
Steigenberger Golf Resort El Gouna is the quintessence of golfing pleasure in
Egypt. Overlooking the turquoise waterways of the lagoon town El Gouna, basked
by sunny skies all year round, golfers of all levels and handicaps definitely
get their money's worth. Bunkers, lagoons and plenty of sand traps challenge
each and every player on this championship course. A tricky but immensely
pleasurable endeavor.
A wide-ranging
and extensive renovation of the golf resort was completed this year. The
lobby and all 268 rooms and suites have been refashioned in modern garb, with
nature serving as the inspiration. In the hotel's entrance area, warm earth
tones mesh with royal blue to then pair off with materials such as high-quality
marble and wood. Bathed in light, the lovely rooms immediately grab their
guests through their strikingly contemporary design in light beige, brown and
grey tones and subtle patterns. All the deluxe rooms and suites on the ground
floor have direct access to the pool area.
Three restaurants and
four bars cater culinary classics. The Japanese restaurant
"Harumaki", serving sushi, teppanyaki and other iconic dishes, is one
of the latest additions to the resort. The menu at the "Green Bar",
which is directly linked into the golf course, features snacks like bocadillos
and tacos for in-between meals.
Tee time at
Steigenberger Makadi
The adults-only
Steigenberger Makadi hotel is perched amidst an 18-hole golf course, awarded
the title of "Egypt's best golf course" in 2019. It is a venue for
golf tournaments on a regular basis. The grand finale of the "Samsonite
Golf Club Tour" is to be held at the golf course at Madinat Makadi
in 2024, for instance. Thanks to its hills and hazards, an exciting final
is to be awaited on this demanding golf course – with an ever-present
breathtaking view of the Red Sea framing it all.
Steigenberger Makadi
also paves the way for newcomers to the world of golf. In the hotel's very own
golf academy, certified pros take their guests through the rounds. And a pro
shop is at the service of guests to make sure they have exactly the right equipment.
Steigenberger Resort
Ras Soma: Golfing and wellness combined
The luxury resort
Steigenberger Resort Ras Soma between the coastal towns of Hurghada and Safaga,
with its proximity to the golf course at Madinat Makadi, is a paradise for
golfers and wellness lovers alike. When it comes to relaxation after a sunny
day, the resort's Mividaspa is there to pamper guests from head to toe with
wellness treatments, sauna, steam bath, Jacuzzi and sensory showers.
Egypt looks back on a
long golfing tradition. One of the oldest golf clubs in Africa was opened here
over 120 years ago. The country offers lush-green, internationally renowned
golf courses before an impressive backdrop between the Red Sea and mountainous
desert landscape and enjoys great popularity in the autumn and winter months
thanks to warm temperatures year-round.
