Travel conditions in Southern Thailand return to normal as TAT accelerates recovery efforts

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) reports that travel conditions across Southern Thailand have stabilised following the complete receding of floodwaters in previously affected provinces. Most destinations are now accessible, and major transport services—by air, land and sea—are functioning on regular schedules.

“Conditions are stabilising, and recovery is underway”

“We sincerely thank all travellers and tourism partners for their patience, cooperation, and understanding over the past days,” said TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool. “With conditions now stabilising, TAT will assess the overall tourism impact and work with local partners to support recovery in the affected areas. Our next steps include adjusting market strategies and reinforcing travel confidence through targeted promotions, events, and activities that help revitalise local economies.”

Improving accessibility across southern provinces

Accessibility in Hat Yai (Songkhla), Satun, Phatthalung, Narathiwat, Yala and Pattani continues to improve as restoration work progresses. Airports, border checkpoints and main roads in these provinces are open, though selected attractions and secondary routes remain under repair. In Nakhon Si Thammarat and Trang, conditions normalised earlier, with land, sea and air transport operating normally. Most attractions have reopened; only a few sites in the Khao Banthat Range remain closed for safety reasons. Rail services—Rapid 167/168 and Express 83/84—continue to run via Thung Song with connecting buses.

Popular destinations remain fully open

Key tourism hubs including Phuket, Phang-nga, Krabi, Ranong, Surat Thani (with Ko Samui, Ko Pha-ngan and Ko Tao) and Chumphon have remained fully accessible throughout. Marine transport is running normally, with occasional weather-related adjustments. National parks across the region have reopened, except Mu Ko Chumphon National Park, which is currently closed for its annual maintenance period.

Nationwide transport stabilises as repairs continue

Airports across Southern Thailand are operating on regular schedules. Travellers are advised to reconfirm flights in case of routine operational adjustments. Marine transport services are functioning as usual, while interprovincial bus routes to all southern provinces have fully resumed. The State Railway of Thailand has adjusted some Southern Line services during ongoing repairs and is offering full refunds for affected passengers.
