Oceania Cruises puts longer voyages at the heart of global exploration

Oceania Cruises is putting extended voyages at the centre of its global cruise programme, offering itineraries ranging from month-long crossings to 180-day journeys around the world. The concept is aimed at travellers who want to experience several countries and regions at a slower pace while retaining the same accommodation throughout their journey.

Across its fleet of smaller luxury ships, Oceania Cruises offers more than 600 destinations worldwide. Longer itineraries combine major cultural centres and UNESCO-listed sites with smaller coastal destinations, allowing guests to move between continents without the repeated flights, hotel changes and logistical arrangements associated with conventional multi-destination trips.

More time becomes part of the experience

"For today's luxury traveler, discovering somewhere new is about more than moving from one place to another," said Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Oceania Cruises. "Longer voyages give guests the time to experience destinations differently. They can linger a little longer, venture farther and appreciate the character of each place without feeling rushed."

According to Montague, the combination of longer itineraries, onboard activities and small-group excursions allows travellers to engage more closely with the places they visit. "Every journey reflects our belief that the greatest luxury is having the time to truly enjoy it."

Oceania Cruises' adults-only concept is designed to complement the slower rhythm of extended voyages. Longer periods at sea are combined with enrichment programmes, dining and leisure time between calls at destinations.

Oceania Aurelia to debut in late 2027

The new Oceania Aurelia will play a central role in the line's longer itineraries when it enters service in late 2027. Designed with extended journeys in mind, the ship is already scheduled to operate Oceania Cruises' 2028 and 2029 world cruises.

Oceania Aurelia will have fewer than 250 suites and staterooms. The line describes the concept as resembling an elegant private club at sea, with generous space and highly personalised service.

Its first scheduled 180-day world cruise departs Miami on January 18, 2028, and ends in New York. The route crosses Mexico and Central America before continuing to Hawaii, the South Pacific, Australia, Asia and Europe.

A second 180-day circumnavigation begins in Los Angeles on January 6, 2029. Oceania Aurelia will travel through South America, the South Pacific, New Zealand, Australia, Asia and Europe before reaching New York.

From the Great Barrier Reef to Alaska

Other extended voyages combine several distinct regions within a single itinerary. Oceania Riviera departs Sydney on March 7, 2027, for a 68-day voyage to Vancouver.

The route follows Australia's coastline before continuing through Southeast Asia, Japan and Alaska. Experiences along the way range from the Great Barrier Reef and Komodo dragons to ancient Asian temples and the wilderness of Alaska, including Hubbard Glacier.

On April 5, 2027, Oceania Riviera will begin another transcontinental itinerary, sailing from Singapore to Vancouver in 39 days. Calls include destinations in the Philippines, Hong Kong and Japan before the ship continues towards Alaska and Canada's west coast.

66 days from the Adriatic to Northern Europe

Oceania Marina will connect the Mediterranean and Northern Europe on a 66-day voyage departing Trieste on April 17, 2027.

The itinerary includes Koper, Zadar, Corfu, Sicily and Rome before continuing through Spain and France towards Northern Europe and London. The route combines ancient sites and Mediterranean coastal towns with major European cities.

A further extended itinerary aboard Oceania Aurelia begins in Athens on December 18, 2027. The 31-day Holiday Crossing visits ports in Italy, France and Spain before heading to the Canary Islands and crossing the Atlantic. Following a call in San Juan, the voyage concludes in Miami.

With itineraries ranging from just over a month to half a year, Oceania Cruises is positioning extended voyages as an alternative for travellers who want to combine several regions of the world within a single continuous journey.
