The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has reaffirmed
its commitment to making tourism accessible for everyone through its active
participation in the World Summit on Accessible Tourism 2025 (WSAT 2025), held
from 5–7 October at the Lingotto Conference Centre in Turin, Italy.
Representing Thailand, Mr. Nithi “Nutty” Subhongsang, Managing Director of Nutty
Adventure and Vice President of the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA),
presented Thailand’s successful approaches to “Tourism for All” and shared the
country’s best practices in building inclusivity into tourism development.
“TAT’s participation at WSAT 2025 reinforces our
long-term vision to make tourism accessible for everyone,” said Ms. Thapanee
Kiatphaibool, Governor of TAT. “Inclusivity encompasses not only infrastructure
but also empathy, innovation, and collaboration. We are proud to see Thai
entrepreneurs sharing their expertise on the world stage and inspiring new ways
for destinations to open their doors to all travellers.”
Global Dialogue on Accessibility and Equality in
Travel
Under the theme “Destination for All,” WSAT 2025
gathered leaders from government, business, international organisations, and
civil society to promote equality in tourism worldwide. The summit featured
keynote addresses, panel discussions, and case studies highlighting innovative,
real-world examples of accessible travel infrastructure and services. The event
underscored the importance of collaboration to create tourism ecosystems that
welcome people with disabilities, seniors, families, and travellers with
mobility or sensory limitations.
Thailand’s Contribution to Tourism for All
In his presentation, Mr. Nithi outlined Thailand’s community-based
and sustainable travel models designed to support travellers with disabilities
and older adults. He also showcased initiatives that position Thailand as a
leader in inclusive tourism innovation. His participation reinforced the
country’s growing influence in shaping global conversations about
accessibility.
Celebrating Innovation: Nutty Adventure’s Achievements
Nutty Adventure, one of Thailand’s leading sustainable
tourism enterprises, has gained international recognition for its pioneering
work in accessible travel. At the 15th Thailand Tourism Awards 2025, marking
three decades of tourism excellence, the company received:
The Thailand Sustainability Award for “Accessible
Thailand Without Borders: From North to South for Visually Impaired Travellers”
The Hall of Fame Award for three consecutive years of
outstanding contribution to inclusive tourism
The Award of Excellence for Inbound Tourism Programmes
These accolades highlight the company’s dedication to
providing meaningful, inclusive experiences for visually impaired travellers
and wheelchair users, and its role in promoting Ayutthaya as a model city for
accessibility.
Thailand’s Global Commitment to Inclusion
Through its engagement at WSAT 2025, TAT reaffirmed
Thailand’s dedication to Tourism for All—championing accessibility, diversity,
and empathy as essential pillars of sustainable tourism growth. The country’s
initiatives continue to position Thailand as a welcoming, forward-looking
destination where every traveller can experience the beauty, culture, and
hospitality of the nation without barriers.
