Thailand launches nationwide Chinese New Year 2026 celebrations

The Royal Thai Government, led by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, has officially launched the promotional campaign for Amazing Thailand Chinese New Year 2026 at Government House. The celebrations commemorate the 51st anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the People’s Republic of China and highlight coordinated support from multiple ministries and agencies.

The event brought together Mr. Zhang Jianwei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Thailand; Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport; Captain Thammanat Prompao, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives; Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT); and senior representatives from relevant government bodies, underscoring cross-sectoral collaboration behind the nationwide programme.

Bangkok and Hat Yai anchor nationwide festivities

In the lead-up to the Chinese New Year period, the Tourism Authority of Thailand is staging two major festival events in Bangkok and a flagship celebration in Hat Yai, while supporting established festivities across key regional destinations.

In Bangkok, “Amazing Thailand Happy Chinese New Year 2026” will unfold at two central locations. Festive illuminations will line Yaowarat Road, from Odeon Circle to Chaloem Buri Intersection, from 7 February to 1 March, daily between 18:00 and 23:00. The main festival programme will take place at Siam Paragon from 14 to 18 February, running daily from 16:00 to 22:00.

In Southern Thailand, “Amazing Thailand Chinese New Year 2026 @ Hat Yai” will be held from 17 to 20 February along Saneha Nusorn Road in Hat Yai, Songkhla Province. The event reinforces Hat Yai’s position as a major tourism hub in the region.

Regional traditions strengthen the national programme

Beyond Bangkok and Hat Yai, TAT is supporting long-standing regional celebrations. These include the Chao Pho–Chao Mae Pak Nam Pho procession in Nakhon Sawan Province from 10 to 21 February, as well as the Suphan Buri Chinese New Year Festival: 18 Years of the Heavenly Dragon at the Dragon Descendants Museum in Suphan Buri Province from 17 to 18 February.

The nationwide celebrations are backed by a network of public and private partners, including Siam Paragon, ICONSIAM, centralwOrld and shopping centres under Central Group, as well as The Mall Group. The collaboration aims to stimulate travel and extend the festive atmosphere across the country.
