For 95 years, Steigenberger has stood at the
intersection of world events and refined hotel culture. The anniversary year
reached its highlight with the reopening of the Steigenberger Icon Europäischer
Hof Baden-Baden, the brand’s founding hotel, celebrated at a gala attended by
guests including Damian Hurley, Frauke Ludowig and Max Giesinger.
A legacy across continents
Today, Steigenberger operates around 70 hotels in
Europe, Africa and Asia. Many properties enjoy exceptional locations, from the
Steigenberger Pyramids Hotel in Cairo with views of the new Grand Egyptian
Museum and the Pyramids of Giza, to the Steigenberger Icon Wiltcher’s in
Brussels and the Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof in Vienna’s historic first
district.
Where diplomacy meets hospitality
Few places reflect the brand’s heritage as vividly as
the Steigenberger Icon Grandhotel & Spa on the Petersberg near Bonn. Once
the guesthouse of the German government, it hosted historic summits and visits
from figures such as Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama. The
hotel’s restaurant “Bill’s” and “Nelson’s Bar” continue this tradition.
Stage for culture and inspiration
As the first Steigenberger hotel, the Europäischer Hof
Baden-Baden has long served as a meeting place for personalities of its time –
from Empress Elisabeth of Austria to Hildegard Knef. The Frankfurter Hof
carries on the cultural spirit, particularly during the Frankfurt Book Fair,
when the famous Autorenbar becomes a gathering place for writers and
publishers.
Moments of glamour
Elvis Presley stayed at what is now the Steigenberger
Hotel Bad Homburg during his time as a U.S. soldier; a plaque and the Elvis
Suite commemorate his visit. At the Steigenberger Icon Parkhotel Düsseldorf,
the cocktail “Étoile,” once served to guests such as Louis Armstrong and
Christian Dior, is part of the Founder’s Cocktail Selection.
A toast to 95 years
The anniversary concludes with the limited-edition
beer “Steigenberger 1930,” a pale lager crafted in honor of the group’s
founding year. It is available in participating hotels as a tribute to 95 years
of distinctive hospitality.
