As Lufthansa prepares to celebrate 100 years since the
founding of the first Lufthansa in 1926, the airline is marking the milestone
with a dedicated “anniversary fleet” featuring a striking special livery that
blends heritage and modernity.
Each major sub-fleet will have one aircraft painted in
the commemorative 100-year design. The blue fuselage will feature a white crane
whose wings flow into the aircraft’s wings, creating a seamless, symbolic
silhouette. A prominent “100” will appear on the left side of the fuselage,
while the inscription “1926 / 2026” will be displayed on the right. An
additional “100” will be visible on the underside of the aircraft.
Six aircraft, one centenary design
Leading the anniversary fleet will be the brand-new Boeing
787-9 “Berlin” (registration D-ABPU), expected to arrive in Frankfurt in
December. Additional aircraft to receive the special
livery include:
·
an Airbus A380
·
an Airbus A350-1000
·
an Airbus A350-900
·
an Airbus A320
·
a Boeing 747-8
The redesign will be applied gradually, with the full
anniversary fleet expected to be completed by fall 2026.
With this special edition, Lufthansa honours a century
of aviation history while highlighting its continued commitment to innovation
and design excellence.
