The Lufthansa Group will present both its commercial
aviation heritage and its growing defence activities at the International
Aerospace Exhibition (ILA) Berlin 2026. Visitors will be able to see a
specially painted Lufthansa Airbus A320neo on display, while Lufthansa Technik
Defense will showcase its military aviation capabilities and current projects
for Germany and NATO partners.
The dual presence reflects the Group’s broad spectrum
of activities, ranging from passenger aviation and fleet modernisation to
military maintenance, support and technology services.
Anniversary aircraft celebrates 100 years of Lufthansa
history
One of the highlights of this year’s exhibition is
Lufthansa’s Airbus A320neo, registered D-AING, which is part of the airline’s
special centenary fleet.
The aircraft carries a distinctive anniversary livery
featuring the iconic Lufthansa crane in oversized format on a blue fuselage. It
was created to commemorate the founding of the first Lufthansa airline 100
years ago and symbolises both the company’s heritage and its ongoing fleet
renewal programme.
The aircraft will be displayed as part of the Airbus
Static Display during the exhibition.
Lufthansa Technik Defense takes centre stage
A major focus of the Lufthansa Group’s participation
this year is Lufthansa Technik Defense, the division established in 2023 to
consolidate the company’s defence-related activities for the German Armed
Forces and NATO allies.
At its exhibition stand, the company will present a
range of military aviation programmes in which it is currently involved. These
include support for the P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol and anti-submarine
warfare aircraft, the PEGASUS signals intelligence system and the CH-47 Chinook
heavy-lift transport helicopter.
Lufthansa Technik Defense is also part of the
industrial partnership supporting Germany’s future F-35 fighter fleet together
with Lockheed Martin, Rheinmetall and ESG.
Focus on military maintenance and modernisation
The 144-square-metre exhibition stand will highlight
Lufthansa Technik Defense’s expertise in maintenance, repair, overhaul and
modification services for military aircraft.
The company will present its capabilities across a
broad range of defence aviation sectors, underlining its role in supporting
fleet modernisation programmes and long-term operational readiness for military
customers.
Lufthansa Group represented across two exhibition
areas
Visitors to ILA Berlin 2026 can view the anniversary
Airbus A320neo at the Airbus Static Display, while Lufthansa Technik Defense
will be exhibiting in Hall D.
Together, the two presentations illustrate the
Lufthansa Group’s commitment to innovation, technological development and
aviation expertise across both civilian and military aviation sectors.
