The Lufthansa Group is enhancing its digital booking
experience with new flexible payment options enabled through a partnership with
Klarna and Adyen. From mid-November 2025, customers in Germany, Austria,
Belgium, Switzerland and selected additional markets will gain access to
Klarna’s Pay Later and Financing services, supported by Adyen’s global payments
infrastructure. The collaboration strengthens the Group’s focus on convenience,
transparency and customer choice.
Flexible options alongside traditional payment methods
Until now, travellers primarily used the one-time “Pay
in Full” option when booking their flights. With the new integration, they can
choose to pay for their journey after a set period or spread higher-value
bookings over longer instalments. The feature is designed to offer greater
financial flexibility without compromising the simplicity of the booking
process.
Oliver Schmitt, Managing Director Lufthansa Group
Digital Hangar, emphasised that the new partnership reflects the Group’s
ongoing commitment to a seamless customer experience. David Sykes, Chief
Commercial Officer at Klarna, noted that flexible payments help travellers book
with greater confidence, while Alexa von Bismarck, President EMEA at Adyen,
highlighted the strength of combining Adyen’s global payments network with
Klarna’s solutions.
Gradual rollout across the Lufthansa Group network
The introduction of Klarna’s payment services begins
in mid-November across key Lufthansa Group markets, with additional markets to
follow. By the end of the second quarter of 2026, the offering will be
available across all Lufthansa Group Network Airlines, including Lufthansa,
Austrian Airlines, SWISS and Brussels Airlines.
The new collaboration aims to reimagine the digital
checkout process for travellers—bringing more choice and flexibility to one of
the most important parts of the customer journey.
