Eurowings is expanding its onboard offering with a new
culinary highlight. From 1 May, passengers can order a specially developed
currywurst by Berlin-based chef Tim Raue in the Wings Bistro. Created
exclusively for the airline, the dish brings a well-known German favourite on
board in a version tailored to the conditions at cruising altitude.
Developed for taste above the clouds
The recipe was designed in close collaboration with
Tim Raue to ensure full flavour despite altered taste perception during
flights. A carefully balanced mix of spices, aromatic sauces and clearly
defined flavours aims to deliver a consistent taste experience on board.
The sausage itself is sourced from traditional butcher
Dönninghaus in Bochum, known for its artisanal production. Combined with a
fruity tomato sauce and a spiced curry-onion blend, the dish reflects a focus
on quality and recognisable flavours.
Familiar dish with a refined twist
“Our guests are looking for products that feel
familiar yet surprising. With the Currywurst by Tim Raue, we’re bringing a
German classic on board in a new, elevated quality. It’s a perfect fit for
Eurowings: straightforward, popular and full of character,” says Patrick Door,
Head of Customer Experience & Product Management.
“Currywurst is a true icon. For Eurowings, it was
important to me to create a version that brings together flavour, quality and
my signature balance of sweetness, acidity and heat – with a spiced sauce made
from Jaipur curry, white onions, chili and a few secrets. That’s what Berlin
tastes like above the clouds,” says top chef Tim Raue.
Available across European routes
The new currywurst will be served on Eurowings flights
where the preparation of hot meals is possible. Priced at 8.90 euros, it will
be offered on numerous routes within Europe while stocks last.
With this addition, Eurowings continues to develop its
Wings Bistro concept by combining familiar dishes with a focus on quality and
contemporary presentation.
