Hilton has announced a strategic agreement with
Regenta Hotels Private Limited, owned by Royal Orchid Hotels Limited, to
develop and open 125 Hampton by Hilton hotels across India. The partnership is
designed to accelerate Hilton’s expansion in the upper-midscale segment and
respond to the country’s rapidly growing domestic travel market.
The new hotels are expected to open progressively
through 2035, primarily in western and southern regions including Goa,
Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The expansion
will address the growing demand for branded accommodation in emerging cities
and commercial centers across the country.
“India’s economic growth, expanding middle class and
rapid infrastructure development are reshaping the country’s travel landscape,
creating significant opportunities for our brands,” said Alan Watts, president
Asia Pacific at Hilton. “Our new strategic partnership with the Regenta Hotels
Group demonstrates our commitment to working with established local operators,
enabling us to scale our franchise footprint rapidly while maintaining the
strength and consistency of Hilton’s brands.”
Focus on fast-growing regional markets
Hilton’s strategy in India increasingly relies on
partnerships with experienced local operators. This agreement marks the
company’s third large-scale development partnership in the country and aims to
accelerate hotel openings through standardized franchise arrangements across a
large portfolio.
Western and southern Indian states account for a
significant share of the country’s GDP and represent some of its most dynamic
travel corridors. As infrastructure improves and domestic travel expands,
demand for reliable branded accommodation is growing beyond the largest
metropolitan areas.
“India remains a strategic long-term growth market for
Hilton,” said Christian Charnaux, executive vice president and chief
development officer at Hilton. “For owners, Hampton by Hilton delivers
industry-leading returns through an efficient operating model and broad guest
appeal. This agreement reinforces the global strength of the Hampton brand and
our confidence in the long-term growth of India’s midmarket hospitality
sector.”
Hampton brand tailored to Indian travelers
Hampton by Hilton is the company’s largest brand by
number of hotels worldwide and operates in 46 countries. Known for its service
concept called “Hamptonality,” the brand focuses on consistent quality,
approachable design and reliable comfort for mid-market travelers.
Following consumer research in India, Hampton hotels
in the country will adapt design, service and amenities to local preferences
while maintaining the brand’s global standards.
“We are proud to partner with Hilton to scale Hampton
by Hilton in India,” said Chander Baljee, founder chairman and managing
director of Royal Orchid Group. “As domestic travel continues to grow and new
economic centers emerge across the country, we see a significant opportunity to
expand the Hampton by Hilton brand across cities in India.”
Arjun Baljee, president of Royal Orchid Hotels, added
that the partnership represents a major milestone for the group. “Partnering
with Hilton to bring 125 Hampton properties to life is a strategic leap in our
50-year journey. It complements our ethos of strengthening India’s mid-market
hospitality segment with hotels that deliver value, service efficiency and
thoughtful design while creating jobs in local communities.”
Hampton by Hilton hotels also participate in Hilton
Honors, the company’s global loyalty program. Members who book directly through
Hilton channels receive benefits such as flexible points redemption, exclusive
discounts and digital services including mobile check-in, room selection and
Digital Key.
