Delta Air Lines has strengthened its Caribbean
operations after the recent federal shutdown and subsequent reopening of
regional airspace. Teams across the airline’s global network are focused on
assisting customers and stabilising schedules following the disruption.
Extra capacity to ease rebooking
To supplement normal operations, Delta has proactively
added more than 2,600 seats through additional flights across its Caribbean
network for Monday, 5 January. The airline expects to have all affected
customers reaccommodated by Tuesday, 6 January, as recovery efforts continue.
Possible delays amid increased traffic
Delta cautioned that some delays may occur in
Caribbean markets on Monday due to the temporary increase in airline capacity.
Operational teams are coordinating closely to support passengers with tight
connections at hub airports and minimise knock-on effects.
Travel advice for customers
Customers holding confirmed or rebooked tickets for
Monday are advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours before
departure to allow for higher traffic volumes. Travellers without confirmed
bookings are encouraged to avoid the airport until rebooking has been
completed.
Waiver and itinerary management
Delta’s existing travel waiver remains in effect for
customers travelling to or from 13 affected airports through 6 January.
Passengers can continue to monitor and manage their itineraries via Delta.com
or the Fly Delta app.
