Hilton (NYSE:
HLT) will rapidly expand its resort portfolio in Europe, with 10 hotels,
totalling more than 1,500 guest rooms, opening in time for summer across
its Curio Collection by Hilton, Tapestry
Collection by Hilton and DoubleTree
by Hilton brands. Ahead of this year’s International Hospitality
Investment Forum (IHIF), taking place in Berlin next week, Hilton has today
announced franchise agreements for four hotels: Hilton Alvor, opening in 2026,
and Cala San Miguel Hotel Ibiza, Curio Collection by Hilton, The Club Cala San
Miguel Hotel Ibiza, Curio Collection by Hilton and Numo Ierapetra Beach Resort
Crete, Curio Collection by Hilton, which join upcoming European resort
properties opening in Italy, Greece, Croatia and Malta this summer.
Key leisure destinations such as Greece and
Sardinia have increased in popularity in recent years and, in the last year
alone, Hilton signed more than 20 resort hotels across Europe, Middle East and
Africa under six of its brands. This growth is part of Hilton's strategy to
develop its portfolio of resort hotels, which has doubled in the last five
years and now stands at more than 300 hotels worldwide.
“Guest demand for high quality resorts in both
longstanding international hotspots and up and coming leisure destinations is
growing, leading to increased interest from owners in developing resort hotels
under Hilton brands,” said Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president,
development, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Hilton. “Last year alone, more
than a fifth of our openings in Europe, Middle East and Africa were resort
hotels and, working with a wide range of owners, we are looking forward to
continued growth across this market segment, particularly in Mediterranean
island destinations. With 10 European resort hotels due to open in time for the
summer season, we’re introducing outstanding properties to popular destinations
including Ibiza, the Algarve and Crete, expanding our range of resorts across
the region under different brands.”
Hilton Alvor
The newly developed Hilton Alvor will be located in
the highly popular Algarve region and is expected to open in 2026, following a
franchise agreement with Mercan Group, with whom Hilton opened Arts Hotel Porto, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, last year.
Joining two hotels trading under the Hilton Hotels &
Resorts brand in Portugal, the hotel resort will offer 363 guest rooms set
against a picturesque coastal view. Throughout the extensive property, with a
delicate and sustainable landscaping, guests will be able to choose from five
restaurants, including two specialty dining offerings, three bars, including a
bar on the rooftop with a terrace, as well as “Grab & Go” food
options for those heading out to explore the stunning Algarve region. Guests
will be invited to relax and unwind in one of the resort’s six swimming pools,
extensive spa including a vitality pool, or by the sea, thanks to the hotel’s
beachside location. Meetings and events will be well served by more than 1,200
square meters of events space, including a 450 square meter ballroom perfect
for weddings and all kinds of events.
Two Resort Hotels Announced in Ibiza
Following a franchise agreement with Hotel
Investment Partners (HIP), a leading owner of resort hotels in Southern Europe
owned by Blackstone-managed funds, Hilton has announced plans for two hotels in
Ibiza under its Curio Collection by Hilton brand. Due to open in time for the
2024 summer season, these hotels mark a significant step forward for Curio
Collection by Hilton, debuting in one of the world’s most coveted
holiday destinations. These hotels join the recently opened Canopy by Hilton Madrid Castellana and Domes Aulus Elounda, Curio Collection by Hilton, both
following agreements between Hilton and owners HIP.
Cala San Miguel Hotel Ibiza, Curio Collection by
Hilton
Located in Port de San Miguel's northern region on
the island, Cala San Miguel Hotel Ibiza, Curio Collection by Hilton will
feature 196 guest rooms when it opens in time for the summer. With direct beach
and sea access, this waterfront hotel will offer three restaurants showcasing
diverse cuisines, including Mediterranean and Asian specialties, along with two
bars and two swimming pools. Catering to various visitor preferences, the hotel
will also offer fitness facilities and a wellness area, complete with a
designated outdoor area for calisthenics and yoga.
The Club Cala San Miguel Hotel Ibiza, Curio
Collection by Hilton
The sister hotel of Cala San Miguel Hotel Ibiza,
Curio Collection by Hilton is located just moments away, sharing a number
of amenities across the two properties. The
Club Cala San Miguel Hotel Ibiza, Curio Collection by Hilton, will be an
adults-recommended hotel featuring 96 guest rooms, offering direct access to
white sandy beaches. The hotel will offer two restaurants, and two bars
including a pool bar and lobby bar. Situated 10 minutes from Cala Benirrás and
around 30 minutes from the sites of the Old Town, it boasts a variety of
restaurants and bars, including a food truck, an outdoor pool to chill out by,
and a fitness centre.
Numo Ierapetra Beach Resort Crete, Curio Collection
by Hilton
Located in the southeastern corner of Crete, Numo Ierapetra Beach Resort Crete, Curio Collection by Hilton is
an exclusive beachfront property designed for adults in the lesser-explored
area of Ierapetra in southern Crete. The hotel follows a franchise agreement
with NUMO Hospitality, marking Hilton’s second property with the
owner following the opening of Royal Senses Resort & Spa Crete, Curio Collection by Hilton in 2021.
Featuring 132 spacious guest rooms and suites that seamlessly blend indoor and
outdoor spaces, the new resort boasts two swimming pools, an indoor and outdoor
gym, tennis court and a boutique spa, making it an ideal retreat for wellness
enthusiasts. Additionally, guests can enjoy unique amenities such as an
open-air cinema set against the picturesque hills. Crete, Greece's largest
island and a favourite among European travellers, enchants visitors with its
breath-taking natural landscapes, rich culinary traditions, and ancient
historical sites.
These hotels join several planned openings across
the Mediterranean this summer, including Isla Brown Chania Crete Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, Isla Brown Corinthia Resort & Spa, Curio Collection by
Hilton, Mangia's Santa Teresa Sardinia, Curio Collection by Hilton, DoubleTree by Hilton Malta and Keight Hotel Opatija, Curio Collection by Hilton.
