Eurowings significantly expands its offer at Hanover Airport

Eurowings is significantly expanding its presence at Hanover Airport and is extending its range of direct destinations in summer 2024. A total of 17 attractive holiday and city destinations in Europe are on the flight schedule. Eurowings is thus tripling its offer for travellers from Hanover. As part of this programme expansion, Eurowings is stationing two Airbus A320 aircraft at HAJ Airport. This makes Hanover Airport the twelfth Eurowings base in Europe and part of the growth strategy of Germany's largest holiday airline.

At a media event, Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof together with the Managing Directors of Hanover Airport, Dr Martin Roll and Maik Blötz, gave the symbolic starting signal for the new Eurowings base. Prior to this, a Eurowings aircraft arriving from Thessaloniki had already been greeted with a water fountain by the Hanover Airport fire brigade after landing. A visible sign of Eurowings' increased commitment in Hanover has been the airport tower painted in Eurowings' "Burgundy" colour for a few days now.

"We are delighted to be offering a broad programme of attractive destinations from Hanover this summer, which are at the top of many holidaymakers' wish lists," explains Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof. "With our offer, we are providing better connections to Lower Saxony, especially to the most popular sunshine destinations in southern Europe. Our guests will benefit from our value concept, which meets the core needs of today's air travellers with flexibility, comfort and sustainability. Our expansion is also a strong commitment to Hanover as an aviation centre and the entire region."

Lower Saxony's Economics Minister Olaf Lies and Hanover's Lord Mayor Belit Onay also welcome the new direct destinations and the associated opportunities for incoming tourism. Regional President Steffen Krach, CEO of Deutsche Messe AG Jochen Köckler, IHK Managing Director Maike Bielfeld, Meike Zumbrock from Tourismus Marketing Niedersachsen and the Italian Consul General David Michelut also congratulated the opening of the base.

The Eurowings destinations from Hanover in summer 2024

In addition to two weekly flights to Faro in Portugal and the new destination of Malaga (4 times a week), the Eurowings programme from Hanover has a clear focus on Italy: with Rome (4 times a week), Catania and Naples (3 times a week each), Bergamo, Bari, Olbia and Lamezia Terme (2 times a week each), Eurowings ensures good and direct connections to one of the most popular holiday destinations for northern Germans. Eurowings flies to Thessaloniki in Greece and Pula in Croatia twice a week. The Lufthansa Group airline has also increased its connections to the Germans' favourite holiday destination: Eurowings will take off up to 18 times a week to Palma de Mallorca. Travellers from Hanover are also getting closer to a destination in the north: With two weekly flights, Eurowings now offers a quick trip to Sweden's capital Stockholm. The programme is complemented by a weekly flight to Pristina.
