The kids club on A-ROSA SENA will be called ‘Treasure Island’. The first European river cruise ship to offer a dedicated kids club room, the space will have a pirate theme and feature a slide, climbing wall and cave alongside craft and painting corners and a relaxation area with large cushions designed to look like stones.
The ship has been designed with families and multigenerational groups in mind from the outset. Alongside the kids club entertainment programme offering everything from treasure hunts and craft sessions to cocktail making and cinema experiences, the ship also boast a children’s pool on the sundeck for kids to enjoy and a family area in the restaurant.
The ‘Treasure Island’ kids club and 12 spacious family cabins are located in the ‘family area’ of the ship on deck 1. These 28 m2 cabins sleep up to five and have been creatively designed to feature a large double bed, bunk beds with port holes and curtains for little ones and a sofa bed. There is also a play area with a table and extra storage.
Aiming to make mealtimes as stress free as possible, a special children’s buffet will be available for younger guests and older children can put together their own favourite dishes at the gourmet buffet if they prefer. There is also a separate family area in the A-ROSA MARKET restaurant where families can eat together should they wish.
In addition to the onboard experience, A-ROSA will be offering a range of special family excursions to ensure everyone gets to explore the region they are sailing through in a fun and engaging way. Alongside the adventure of visiting famous cities such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Antwerp, excursions such as a trip to the Madurodam minature park in the Netherlands and Chocolate Nation in Antwerp will also be available to book on board.
Jörg Eichler, CEO at A-ROSA River Cruises, comments: “We’ve been welcoming families onto our cruises since 2014, but with A-ROSA SENA we’ve moved things to a whole new level. We’ve taken the knowledge we’ve gained over the last few years on the needs and want of families and incorporated it into the design of A-ROSA SENA from the outset.”
“She features numerous innovations when it comes to families cruising on the rivers of Europe, with the first kids club room on a river cruise ship where kids can let off steam, play, relax and get to know each other. There is also the children’s pool on the sundeck in addition to the large swimming pool and the family area – all the ingredients needed for the perfect family holiday. We know that the children cruising today are the cruisers of the future, and if they have a great time cruising with their parents and grandparents, I am convinced they will be cruisers for life.”
A-ROSA SENA’s ‘E-motion’ concept will also play a role in helping to protect the rivers for the generations to come. Rowe adds: “We know how important it is to look after the areas we sail through and A-ROSA SENA’s innovative hybrid propulsion system will play a part in this. She switches to battery power when entering and leaving port, meaning her arrivals and departures are silent and emission free, helping us keep the places we sail to cleaner and greener.”
