A journey of a total of 120 km is necessary from Izmir via Torbalı and Ödemiş, yet it is worthwhile for everyone, who wants to get to know a typical Turkish small town, in which time apparently just stood still, besides the presence of a few tractors. The townscape is not disturbed by any modern concrete buildings, the houses originate from the 18th and 19th century, small alleys, walled gardens and a small mosque as the centre of the town create an atmosphere of magical peace.
You can recover from the long trip afterwards with delicious meals in the house on the left hand side from the Çakır Ağa Konağı. The retired female teacher, who opened here a small pub, offers not only excellent Turkish specialties, she has furnished her pub also tastefully with furniture and handcrafted decorative textiles and rugs in such a way, that you can immerse yourself completely into the life of the last century
