Pattaya: Two Brits attempted to pull out an ATM by car

Two British men used a car to pull out an ATM unit off the wall in Chonburi. The two suspects confessed that they needed extra cash.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Panya said that the two suspects had attempted stealing ATMs in Chonburi several times; first time June 14, a Bangkok Bank ATM, Borwin branch, second time June 21, a Bank of Ayudhya, Laem Chabang branch, and the third time on June 28, another Bank of Ayudhya ATM, Pakruam branch.

 

The detectives led by Pol. Col. Sakrapee Peawpanich, Superintendent and Pol. Lt. Yuthana Prasopsukmungdee, Laem Chabang police station went to the hardware store in Sriracha and asked about the heavy duty nylon slings. The shop owner confirmed that he had sold the slings the two foreigners.

 

Later on June 27, the hardware store owner called the police saying that two foreigners came to buy more nylon slings.

 

The police inspected the CCTV images and saw that the two foreigners drove a Nissan Navara pickup truck – the same as on the bank’s security camera.

 

The police team found the pickup truck belonging to Mr. John Lesly Milbourn age 58, British citizen who had already returned to England. Mr. Alex Milbourn, his son, was driving the pickup truck with his friend, Mr. Shauw Edward Tracy.

 

The police team arrested the two criminals at their the house along with a Nissan sedan and a Nissan Navara pickup truck. The white Toyota Camry also used in the crime was from a rental car company.

 

Pol. Maj. Gen. Jamnong said that the two suspects had been living in Pattaya for more than 10 years. They speak Thai fluently. They had arrived in Thailand on tourist visas and did not have any jobs.

 

The suspects said that there was another accomplice, Mr. “Richy” last name unknown , age about 30, still at large.

 

The two suspects said that they could not get the money out of the ATMs because they did not know how to open them and after yanking the ATM units out of the wall the alarm went off. The duo panicked and left the scene in a hurry.

 

Both ATM thieves have been charged with theft and Mr. “Richy”, the unidentified Briton is now wanted by Chonburi police.
