Centara Hotels & Resorts, Thailand’s leading hotel group, is proud to announce that its first managed property in Thailand – the Centara Duangtawan Hotel Chiang Mai – has been awarded a Gold Award of Excellence from AWD – Asia Web Direct.
The award was given for outstanding room night production, which made the Centara Duangtawan Hotel Chiang Mai AWD’s most significant business partner in Central and Northern Thailand over the previous 12 months. At the same time, the hotel also received a Certificate of Merit from AWD for outstanding Revenue Performance in the previous 12 months.
The Centara Duangtawan Hotel Chiang Mai is located in the heart of downtown Chiang Mai, just steps away from the city’s famed Night Bazaar, and a 10-minute drive from Chiang Mai International Airport, the bus terminal and railway station.
A 4-star property, the hotel has 507 perfectly-appointed guestrooms and suites, and with its choice of outstanding restaurants, bars, leisure and meeting facilities, the Centara Duangtawan Hotel Chiang Mai is one of Northern Thailand’s leading hotels for the leisure and business traveler alike, as well as a popular venue for all types of meetings and social functions.
Mr. Gerd Steeb, president of Centara Hotels&Resorts remarked, “We are very proud to be able to assist our first managed property in Thailand in achieving this exceptional double recognition. Since establishing the relationship with the hotel on January 1, 2005, over the last 3 years we have been able to develop the hotel’s performance using all the resources of the powerful Centara Hotels&Resorts brand, not only on management and operational levels, but just as importantly with the exceptional reach and effectiveness of the sales and marketing tools and support, which the Centara Hotels&Resorts brand brings.
“We have shown positive and measurable results including increasing the average room rate and occupancy levels in what has always been a very competitive market place, as well as managing costs within the budget levels agreed with the owner. The owner is delighted with the hotel’s overall performance, and this special award is an added bonus to them. Having witnessed the power of the Centara Hotels&Resorts brand, the owner has the confidence and trust in us to agree to upgrade the hotel's facilities by adding a Spa Cenvaree, the four-star, Centara-owned spa brand, and this is due to open on September 15, 2008. With this added facility we hope that this award will be followed by others,” Steeb concluded.
